JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager-Mechanical Engineering
JOB SUMMARY
This position is for a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager in Mechanical Engineering department to lead the design and development of mechanical systems for medical equipment. The role involves managing a team of engineers and collaborating across functions to ensure timely and high-quality project execution. Perform duties that require application of advanced engineering principles and practices in the design, development, and sustenance of complex mechanical systems. Develops and oversees project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards. Leads product sustenance initiatives, driving continuous improvement and lifecycle support for existing products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Leads and mentors a team of mechanical engineers by providing strategic direction, delegating responsibilities, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
- Manages end-to-end execution of mechanical design projects—from concept through delivery—ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Performs advanced engineering analyses, including stress, thermal, and tolerance studies, to optimize mechanical designs and document findings in comprehensive reports.
- Serves as a key liaison between mechanical engineering, project management, electrical design, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration.
- Conducts design reviews and implements quality control measures to ensure product compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Drives innovation and continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for product enhancements and cost-effective design solutions.
- Collaborates with suppliers and vendors for material selection, procurement, and component manufacturing, including on-site evaluations as necessary.
- Provides expert-level technical support for product sustenance, leading root cause analysis and resolution of complex mechanical issues in existing products.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to drive technical excellence and innovation within the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
Experience
- 10-20 years of experience in the design and development of mechanical systems, preferably in medical product development or manufacturing
Skills
- Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, including materials science, manufacturing processes, tolerance stack-up analysis, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and working effectively within cross-functional teams.
- High level proficiency in CAD softwares, preferably SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Hands-on experience with pressure die casting and plastic injection molding processes (preferred).
- Skilled in engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations.
- Expertise in creating detailed technical documentation and manufacturing drawings.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements, especially those related to medical equipment design (preferred).
- Experience in prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems and components.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as PTC Windchill (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across global, cross-functional teams.
- Self-driven and capable of working independently with a high level of ownership and accountability.
- Up-to-date with current trends, tools, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
