Junior Service Technician
JOB SUMMARY
The service technician is responsible for the maintenance, service and repair of medical electronic equipment supplied by Terumo BCT.
REPORTING
- Reports to the National Technical Service Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Perform on-site and in-house repairs and preventive maintenance as well as providing technical advice to Terumo BCT’s internal and external customers as part of their “value-add” philosophy.
- Communicate effectively with customers with regards to equipment repair progress, technical advice, discussion of repair and test results and the provision of related documentation as required by the customer.
- Communicate and liaise with internal staff and external stakeholders to accurately track repairs and ensure they are appropriately charged.
- Work cross-functionally with the sales and clinical support teams, global and regional service departments, marketing, operations and the quality group to ensure we have consistency throughout customer touch points.
- Develop excellent relationships with key hospital biomedical engineering staff and related customers.
- Meet repair targets with respect to turnaround time and quality of work.
- Complete all relevant checklists, reports, quotations and other documentations (in hard and soft copies) in a timely manner as required by our customers, management and administrative personnel.
- Provide equipment maintenance and installation backup support.
- Ensure the tools and test equipment are well-maintained and appropriate calibration and certification of tools and equipment are kept up to date.
- Ensure manuals, checklists, reports and procedures are current, efficient and meet the requirements of relevant parties (both internal and external).
- Participate in product trials and/or hardware installations as required.
- Submit reports and comply with requests for market information in a timely manner.
Administration/Internal Communications
- Adhere to company policies and communicate effectively with corporate and other field associates.
- Provide feedback to management on messaging, tactics and marketplace changes to ensure that our company offerings meet/exceed customer expectations.
- Collaborate with Sales as well as cross-functional partners including Customer Service, Finance, Clinical Support and other businesses to ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to meeting customer needs.
- Communicate and co-ordinate with customer service to ensure equipment repairs are accurately tracked though the system and completed within time targets.
- Develop relationships with key customers and overseas associates to assist with the troubleshooting process.
Other duties and responsibilities
- Seeks and uses customer feedback regarding our products and services to provide tools for continuous quality improvement.
- Reports all defective product incidents in a timely manner using the appropriate processes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Open to fresh graduates from engineering, technical or biomedical courses.
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts, including IP configuration, and troubleshooting connectivity issues is desirable.
- Experience is advantageous but not necessary as in-house training will be provided.
- Self-motivated with a flair for fixing devices is highly preferred.
- Good problem-solving skills and customer oriented.
- Interact professionally and effectively with customers, physicians, nurses, and other technical medical staff.
- Effective communication and presentation skills Eg. deliver technical presentations to customers.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Typical office environment requirements include reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, walking, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting to 10 kg
