JOB SUMMARY

Working under consultative direction and with minimal supervision from the Vice President Commercial EMEA, is accountable for establishing and attaining strategic goals and providing planning, leadership, growth and direction for the BCT Business within the region of Sub-Saharan Africa at a regional, country and state level (where appropriate).   The General Manager will be responsible for leading and driving sales, marketing, market access, medical affairs and government affairs for the Sub-Saharan region in Africa and is accountable for the development and execution of business goals, strategies, sales & service plans for all countries in his/her cluster and has P&L responsibility. He/She will need to work closely with internal and external stakeholders, like governmental institutions, to develop proactively a broad range of initiatives for the short, medium and long-term value in line with business objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the development and performance of the sales, service, marketing, market access, government affairs, and admin team through coaching of associates as well as cluster associates.

  • Observe, listen with curiosity, and formalize customer, market & organizational needs.
  • Partner with EMEA and global Leaders to define the strategic plan; ensure key barriers & enablers are adequately addressed.
  • Ensure translation of EMEA Strategic Plan to the assigned territory by developing subcluster / country plan.
  • Lead execution of country plans.

Make it happen … Together

  • Navigate uncertainty and lead through change by focusing on desired results, creating vision and executing collaboratively.
  • Full P&L responsibility for large cluster. Achieve sales and OPEX plan, market penetration, price realization and profitability objectives for the cluster.
  • Link the sales operations with key internal resources supporting our field operations (ie: Marketing, Commercial Excellence, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Finance, Customer Care, Logistics, Tech Service, Human Resources,…) and redirect efforts when adjustments need to be made.
  • Act as the Leadership Sponsor for defined EMEA wide strategic Initiative(s)
  • Balance time spent with three key stakeholders: (1) Customers, Distributors & external stakeholders ; (2) Cluster Associates; (3) EMEA and Global X-Functional Associates

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

Master degree in Business, Economics or in Life Sciences or equivalent through experience

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years sales experience in medical devices or diagnostic area of which a min. of 3 in a leadership position
  • Experience in leading cross-functional organization (sales, service, marketing, medical affairs and public relations).

  • Based: in designated Country
  • Reporting to: Vice President EMEA Commercial Operations
