Senior Medical Science Liaison - Oncology (Germany)

Working with a new innovative therapy as medical and scientific expert in Oncology, develop strategic and long-term partnerships with relevant external oncology stakeholders, physicians and decision makers. Through broad internal cross-functional collaboration, develop scientific leadership with key medical/scientific organizations, external experts, HTA/payer organizations and patient advocacy groups. Inform and develop best-in-class medical affairs capabilities aligned with the medical needs of our portfolio. Additionally, through active coordination of medical affairs activities in collaboration with other medical leaders across multiple organizations develop tailored medical solutions to meet unmet medical needs.



  • Serve as a primary Medical Affairs contact involved with clinical/scientific information exchanges.

  • Execute coordinative efforts through broad internal cross-functional collaboration with clinical affairs, global/regional marketing, market access and clinal sales teams as well as teams with key affiliates.

  • Leverage deep scientific understanding of disease areas, unmet medical needs, treatment options and medical issues to help develop tailored medical solutions.

  • Coordinate and execute medical affairs activities in collaboration with the other medical leaders across organizations.

  • Develop and maintain professional scientific relationships in critical areas with thought leaders in key academic and community-based medical centers, medical professional associations and patient advocacy groups.  

  • Execute clinical/medical plans both in terms of evidence generation, scientific communications and external expert engagement.

  • Work with investigators and ensure timely submissions of periodic monitoring report forms for company supported investigator-initiated or collaborative studies.  

  • Lead development of Medical Affairs assets and tactics for external use by Field Medical Affairs and external partners.

  • Identify opportunities and deliver formal presentations to essential groups as requested by medical and technical healthcare professionals including key accounts, hospital committee members, patient advocacy groups, government agencies along with presentations of pharmacoeconomic data in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, regulatory guidelines, and ethical standards.

  • Maintain expert knowledge and understanding of clinical, medical, scientific, and technical information in Oncology and other critical areas through attendance at relevant symposia, scientific workshops, CME events, and review of key journals. 

  • Provide subject matter expertise and input into cross-functional plans and activities including but not limited to publications, medical information, field medical affairs, HEOR, life cycle management, and commercial plans

  • Execute insight collection activities including advisory boards, round tables, branded/unbranded CME events and communicate post-event summaries and medical insights to internal stakeholders.

  • Assist customers with data abstraction and publication of clinical, scientific or operational data related to new therapies.

  • Provide scientific support to the organization in the preparation for regional and international congresses.

  • Provide medical, scientific and technical review and opinion as requested internally.

  • Respond to and track medical information requests from healthcare professionals and decision-makers with accurate, unbiased, balanced and timely answers.

  • Assist in building scientific & medical competencies within the organization through training of sales, marketing, and other internal teams.

  • Develop and execute scientific symposium programs, advisory board development, speaker development & training, journal club, one pagers, standard response letters, white papers, webinars, and literature searches or any other project deemed important/critical by leadership.




Advanced degree: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), or Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in a relevant area or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.



Minimum 5 years experience in pharmaceutical or relevant medical/clinical field; Oncology background highly preferred. Expertise in solid tumors, especially Breast Cancer, will be a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to be diplomatic and work in a matrix structure i.e. maintains strong working relationships with highly focused disciplinary team and various other departments such as Medical & Clinical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Global & Regional Marketing and Sales.

  • Operate with high level of ethics and compliance through knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and ethical obligations.

  • Experience with evidence generation, clinical trials, and research settings in Oncology.

  • Proven ability to establish working relationships with all levels of clinical/technical/marketing people in corporate, clinical and academic settings.

  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively.


Additional Information

  • The MSL must be able to manage demanding travel schedule (depending on area and requirements: 25 – 70%).
