JOB TITLE: Facilities Engineer

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

Working without significant direction, performs advanced building equipment/ process troubleshooting.  This role provides technical training to peers, and designs and provides engineering control of Facilities equipment and systems.  Tasks include the development of operation and maintenance procedures, equipment selection, engineering changes,  and regular coordination with others as necessary to support production activities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Performs the highest level of complex troubleshooting for resolving Facilities equipment and system issues.
  • Design and development P&ID’s for Facilities systems.
  • Manages and provides leadership for the functional group’s development, direction, and effectiveness, adhering to organizational policies and processes and supporting overall business and corporate objectives
  • Ownership for OQ & PQ process for building system installations and modifications.
  • Establish Control Plans for Building Automation system & Equipment.
  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical decision related to all building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Interacts with peers across projects to secure resources and commitments.
  • Handles frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.  Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Subject matter expert on all building systems and equipment; directs the troubleshooting and diagnosis of equipment and system issues outside the scope of the maintenance supervisor and technicians daily tasks.
  • Develops all MEP system operation and maintenance procedures and tasking.
  • Responsible for daily reviews of PMs and/or CMs assigned to the Building Engineer
  • Performs engineering evaluation and analysis of MEP systems as needed to support Facilities Engineering as well as Operations and Maintenance.
  • Assist in the configuration of building automation software (BAS) to meet building system design requirements.
  • Assist in the development and modification of BAS programming.
  • Responsible to design and conduct BAS programming test method validations.
  • Presents effectively complex technical information/analysis and responds to questions from technical staff members and management.  
  • Works cooperatively and effectively within a team environment to achieve common goals and results, often influencing the outcome of the team(s).
  • Assist with development and administration of site design and construction standards.
  • Assist with administration of the system documentation records.
  • Ensures compliance with all requirements of the Quality Management System relative to maintenance of equipment, processes, and systems.
  • Provide oversight of vendor activities and PM performance on Facilities equipment.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May provide guidance or direction to other resources such as Building Ops technicians
  • Assist/oversee project execution supporting Project Management
  • Assist with and occasionally write technical reports related to MEP systems and Operations & Maintenance
  • Ensures MEP systems are in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations
  • Participates in project leadership responsibilities such as report writing, planning, scheduling, and cost control
  • Participates in root cause analyses activities as a subject matter expert on site equipment and controls
     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions

 

Experience

  • Desired minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Three years of manufacturing experience preferred.

 

Skills

  • Familiarity with operating and administering Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Familiarity with building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and utility systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications, relevant PC software applications and use.
  • Knowledge of hand tools use and purpose and understand basic metric and standard measurements.
  • Aptitude for understanding mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and control systems.
  • Familiar with advanced instrumentation and test equipment.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing, coaching, and training others in an organizational setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of different problem solving methods for resolving equipment and system issues.
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of Sequence of Operation and the effects of PID (control) loops
  • Familiarity and past work with applicable MEP codes and industry guidance
  • Experience working in FDA regulated facilities utilizing cGMP and GDP
  • Experience with change control management
  • Ability to use standard MS Office software

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Relevant certificates, licenses, or registrations are a plus

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General Labor Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, hand/finger dexterity, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, or transporting up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.

 

 

Additional Physical Requirements

Travel is not expected, but limited travel may arise for training or other purposes.

 

Target Pay Range:  $107,000.00 to $133,800.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
