JOB TITLE:  Engineering Technician I

2nd Shift (Sun-Tues every other Wednesday) 5:30 pm-6am

 

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of engineering or senior technician, performs technical and analytical work following a range of standard and custom test methods. Builds, handles and tests prototypes and raw materials. Assists with set-up and operation of test and/or manufacturing equipment and performs other engineering related tasks in compliance with Company and external regulatory guidelines, policies, and procedures.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Performs complex testing on new or existing products. Creates and modifies test procedures, as needed.
  • Inspects raw materials and assemblies using standard or custom tools, as applicable.
  • Builds and repairs equipment, as applicable.
  • Maintains, accurately follows, and records protocols/procedures and test logs. Responsible for performing to regulatory compliance as required.
  • Identifies a wide range of trends or problems and helps to solve or direct their solution and/or interprets and recommends actions. 
  • Collaborates and effectively interfaces with engineers in the design, development, and building of test fixtures, test protocols/procedures, monitoring strategies, or inspection results commensurate with experience level.
  • Performs technical, administrative, and logistical responsibilities in identifying work area needs.
  • Provides accurate recordkeeping. Records test data and uses software such as MS Excel to chart/graph and display data.
  • Assists more senior level technicians and engineers in performing product and process feasibility, verification and/or validation.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Course work in the following is preferred:
    • Advanced mathematics, statistics, metrology
    • Engineering disciplines (mechanics, fluids, dynamics, material science) or related technical training
    • Hydraulics, electronics, mechanics, computer programming or related fields
    • Chemistry, biology, physics, physiology, anatomy, or related sciences

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a technical role, or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Experience in medical device industry preferred.
  • Requires skills and experience in design and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and/or software systems.
  • Experience in the fabrication of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and assemblies preferred.

Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of state-of-the-art technology related to their function.
  • Builds equipment, performs complex repairs on existing equipment, or uses and maintains sophisticated metrological equipment.
  • Ability to contribute to developing specifications, creating design drawings, and acquiring prototype parts as required.
  • Prefer skills and experience in assembly and troubleshooting of electrical and/or mechanical systems. May also prefer skills in CAD/CAM systems.
  • Ability to perform basic level of mechanical design in the development or improvement of new or existing manufacturing equipment.
  • Prefer knowledge in machining, welding, and fastener and assembly technologies.
  • May require using bovine or human blood for laboratory testing and ability to work safely with potentially hazardous and/or contaminated equipment using PPE.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General Labor Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, hand/finger dexterity, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, or transporting up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.

Target Pay Range:  $41.35 - $46.15 Hourly pay rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0
