Senior Laboratory Analyst

Terumo BCT Ltd - located in Larne - manufactures a range of sterile fluids for human and veterinary use. A vacancy currently exists for a full-time permanent Analytical Development Senior Laboratory Analyst. The successful candidate will assist in the co-ordination and implementation of stability analysis and method validations, ensuring that all laboratory methods are used as described in documented procedures and that procedures for maintaining laboratory equipment and safety are followed.
Duties will include:
- To work with minimal supervision from the Laboratory Manager (R&D), to supervise and ensure that all the duties of the Analytical Development Analysts are carried out.
- To use and train others in the correct use and calibration of all analytical equipment within the Analytical Development Laboratory and be responsible for their calibration.
- To ensure that all analytical test equipment is maintained in a current state of calibration and in good working order and troubleshoot where necessary.
- To perform laboratory analyses based on approved documented procedures.
- To implement/co-ordinate method validation work as required by the Laboratory Manager (R&D).
- To assist in the management of the Stability programme and the review and tabulation of data.
- Prepare and review SOP’s, specifications, validation, qualification and other documentation as required. Ensure compliance with data integrity requirements.
- Have responsibility for the day-to-day management of direct reports and the use of TBCT systems for resource management.
- Attend customer calls where required to relay results and take direction for continued product development.
- Root cause analysis and progression of non-conformance and CAPA on QMS.
Applicants must possess:
- A degree in Chemistry, or a closely related subject.
- A signficant laboratory experience, including use of HPLC.
- Knowledge of HPLC, AA, UV, IR.
- Knowledge of GMP and Quality Systems.
- Knowledge of Qualification/Validation and Stability work.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- The ability to work harmoniously with others.
- Effective communication skills.
- The ability to work additional hours, shifts, as and when required (this may occasionally include evenings or weekends).
In addition, the following would be a distinct advantage:
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and its calibration.
- Experience of stability studies.
- Experience of method validation/verification and method transfer.
- Supervisory/management experience.
