The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, support, and validation of equipment and processes on the manufacturing of sterile solutions products.  This position will support existing, and new processes in manufacturing and external suppliers.

Essential Duties

  • Manages and provides leadership for the functional group’s development, direction, and effectiveness, adhering to organisational policies and processes and supporting overall business and corporate objectives.
  • Responsible for strategic planning within the Larne Process Engineering group to ensure business preparedness for future manufacturing capacity and capability
  • Responsible for operational expenditure of all teams within the Process group.
  • Contributing to the establishment of business objectives, goals and budgets
  • Responsible for capital expenditure for project and or work group expenditures vs. plan.
  • Implements and understands regulatory (eg. FDA/ ISO /GMP) requirements as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with Quality System regulations and safe working practices.
  • Plans, guides, and reviews projects and or work groups under one’s control to produce the desired outcome.
  • Utilises technical skills to evaluate proposed solutions, adaptations, and modifications to projects.
  • Liaises with customers and internal departments to ensure product expectations are met.
  • Identifies and implements opportunities for continuous improvement through utilising Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Liaising with Global Process Engineering groups to leverage and provide knowledge, support & resource allocation where needed

 

Education

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree

 

Experience

  • Significant and demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or a closely related regulated industry, including proven capability in a leadership or managerial role within this context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in process design, scale-up, and optimisation of pharmaceutical production systems
  • Proven experience working within GMP-compliant environments, with a strong understanding of FDA and MHRA regulatory frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment, including troubleshooting and performance improvement.
  • Solid background in process safety, including leading or participating in HAZOP, FMEA, and other risk assessments.
  • Track record of successfully managing capital projects, including equipment installation, facility upgrades, and commissioning activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, collaborating effectively with departments such as Quality, R&D, Operations, and Supply Chain to deliver process improvements and project outcomes.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and technicians and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

  • Recognised expertise within the organization for multiple technical disciplines including technical innovation, technical leadership, mechanical or chemical engineering.
  • Provides significant input into technical strategy, acting as a corporate resource.
  • Is accessible and sought out for consultation on a broad range of complex technical and industry issues by all levels of engineering staff, engineering management and senior management.
  • Uses skills as a technical expert to assist and advise on resolving complex issues.
  • Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organisational objectives and affect the image of the organisation.
  • Makes hiring recommendations in relevant area of expertise and may provide input regarding performance development for team members.
  • Strong interactive skills in cross functional participation and influence, mentoring and acceptance of guidance, technical leadership, project management, coordination with cross functional team member, team behavior, and support for subordinates, junior engineers, technicians, and management
  • Solicits and accepts the ideas of others, as well as actively contributes to an environment conducive to open communication.
  • Identifies, recommends and manages project resources.
  • Contributes to the establishment of business objectives, goals, budgets and costs.
  • Represents the organisation as the prime technical contact on projects. Interacts with senior level external associates on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organisations.
  • Follows and develops technical specification requirements and provides significant input on technical procedures for various processes that impact multiple disciplines.
  • Utilises Lean Six Sigma techniques to identify and implement areas for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively.

  • This is an on-site role, based at our Larne facility.
  • Requires travel based on business needs.
