This position will assist in the development, implementation, project management, and administration of benefit and leave of absence programs within all Terumo BCT U.S. businesses and assists in administration of compensation programs globally.  This will person will coordinate health and welfare benefit administration, reconciliation, payments, and financial reporting for all Terumo BCT U.S. businesses.  Assists in leave of absence administration for U.S. associates and participates in policy review and development.  Manages the company-qualified and non-qualified retirement plans through interpretation of plan documents, IRS regulations, and ERISA regulations. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for day to day oversight/operations of benefits plans, managing vendor relationships for health and welfare and retirement programs including Life Insurance, Disability and the Executive Retirement Plan.
  • Assists in administration of Leave of Absence programs.
  • Assists management in the review, modification and design of all U.S. benefit and leave of absence programs and policies  to ensure alignment with culture, associate care, and legal requirements and regulations.
  • Acts as project manager for benefit open enrollment to ensure effective communication and implementation in coordination with local business HR teams and HR Services teams.
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance database and files, SPD updates and fulfillment with outside vendors.
  • Facilitates Retirement Committee Meetings and Benefits Administration Committee meetings in partnership with consultants.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in resolving escalated associate issues related to benefits and leave administration.
  • Facilitates benefit communications within businesses, including managers, associates, and local HR businesses.
  • Performs audits for process improvement and identifies potential training issues within local HR businesses.
  • Provides education and training as necessary to local HR business associates and US associates.  This may involve working with the Health Services team to implement Associate Wellness programs such as retirement workshops, wellness fairs, new hire benefits training, and open enrollment education.
  • Coordinate and act as subject matter expert in implementation of global benefits programs where appropriate.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

 

Experience

Minimum 5 years experience in human resources in the area of benefits, leave administration and compensation.

  • ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, COBRA administration required.
  • Global benefits experience desirable but not required.

 

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to train and provide recommendations on benefit topics.
  • Ability to identify emerging regulatory issues
  • Posses project management and priority setting skills
  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively, including HR systems
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
