The Logistic Specialist reports into the Regional Supply Chain organization and is responsible for the tactical execution of the regional logistics strategic roadmap with a focus on optimization and improvement of cost, quality and delivery performance.  The Logistics Specialist will leverage cross-functional collaboration with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to establish a clear definition of normal and abnormal supply chain conditions, defining and maintaining standard operating procedures with aligned KPIs that support regional logistics operations and lead root cause analysis and resolution where KPI performance is off target.  

 

The Logistics Specialist will track market conditions and provide alternative solutions to mitigate cost and delivery impact of adverse market developments.  They will liaise with internal departments on issues related to international logistics and 3PL warehousing to proactively implement solutions to prevent and mitigate customer impact.  The Logistics Specialist will capture, analyze and action all relevant freight and warehouse data based on regional activity.   They will support the implementation of all process improvements and system developments with internal and external stakeholders. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Oversee month-to-month logistics operations in the region, ensuring alignment with established KPIs.
  • Create and maintain an action register for regional logistics team to support continuous improvement in KPI performance.
  • Analyze regional logistics operating conditions and provide timely, accurate and comprehensive reports.  
  • Ensure adherence to standardized logistics processes across the regional supply chain.
  • Capture, analyze and act upon all relevant shipping information from carriers for inbound and outbound movements, keeping key stakeholder groups informed of trends, shifts or other market dynamics with proposed course of action.
  • Monitor and track 3PL warehouse spend against business activity, identifying and proactively addressing exceptional spend or activity that requires immediate attention or corrective action.
  • Manage the freight audit process and reporting structure for freight spend, tracking and publishing performance versus expectations based on business activity and market conditions.
  • Conduct cross-functional training for regional supply chain team, including onboarding for new hires.
  • Lead new logistics supplier on-boarding and implementations, supporting the execution of high-quality vendor relationships and ensuring service level agreements are measured and met. 
  • Serve as the regional logistics first point of contact for supply chain activities needed to meet new product introductions (NPIs).
  • Act as the SAP and Transport Management System Superuser within logistics function, providing expertise and support as needed.                                                

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

 

Bachelor’s degree preferred or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

 

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in international and domestic logistics operations, including import/export function and freight procurement.
  • Experience in the implementation and operation of web-enabled Transport and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Warehouse Management experience and/or experience managing 3PL partners.
  • Global Freight Forwarding experience is a plus.

 

Skills 

  • Strong analytical skills for efficient data extraction and comparison.
  • Strong knowledge of the booking process with ocean carriers (NVOCC), truckers, and drayage companies.
  • Ability to influence change effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to function as a leader, an individual contributor, and in a team environment. Display the ability to shift priorities as required by the logistics organization and its internal customers.
  • Support performance metrics and evaluate internal and external service providers.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and diffuse impacts in adverse market conditions.
  • Mindset for continuous improvement & opportunities to refine standardized processes.
  • Experience with Lean concepts such as Six Sigma to drive problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in ERP software (emphasis on planning and warehouse management), SAP experience a plus.
  • Experience using transportation management systems.
  • Expert knowledge of international and domestic logistics, warehouse operations, and inventory management best practices, standards, and available technology.
  • General knowledge of Import/Export Compliance and Security Regulations as applicable to logistics operations
  • Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Highly responsive to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clear, concise and organized information, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to think independently and handle multiple projects and tasks through to completion.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products (Project, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Logistics Specialists typically work in an office environment, but may also need to visit warehouses, distribution centers, or transportation hubs as part of their responsibilities. Typical Office Environment requirements include reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, walking, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Target Pay Range:  $65,200.00 to $81,500.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
