Sterilization Equipment Technician Lead

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Sterilization Equipment Tech/Lead position is responsible for independently performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and maintain production and facility equipment in compliance with departmental procedures and regulatory requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Independently performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform trade skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and repairs.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Update Maximo software for PM completion, inventory adjustment, asset management, etc.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Carry company pager/cell phone as required for on-call maintenance.
  • Responds to emergency call-ins 24 hours a day.
  • On-call, holiday and weekend work will be required as scheduled. Support 2-3 week Annual shutdown in Dec-Jan.
  • Works with hazardous chemicals, i.e. ethylene oxide, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide.
  • Complies with departmental procedures and various regulatory agencies, i.e. FDA, OSHA, EPA, NFPA.
  • Implements corrective and preventive actions. Write Corrective Maintenance documents and procedures.
  • Develops and provides technical guidance and training to others.
  • Performs documentation and regulatory recordkeeping responsibilities, some of which may be computerized.
  • Designs and builds special tools and instruments for use in the maintenance of equipment.  May oversee others in the design and building of tools and instruments.
  • Analyzes process information using process information management system.
  • Prepares proposals for expenditures on equipment repairs and replacements.
  • Assists with spare parts inventory including purchasing spare parts, equipment, and/or services; ordering parts; and tracking material and parts usage.
  • Complete assigned training as scheduled.
  • Performs scheduled calibrations in compliance with department procedures. 
  • Continues education as necessary to keep up advanced level of abilities as applicable technologies change.
  • Contributes to the review and maintenance of department procedures and documentation.
  • Coordinates and oversees outside contractor activities and ensure safe performance of work being done.
  • Ensure all outside contractors are pre-approved by EHS and trained to site safety requirements.
  • Maintain working areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Attentive to sights and sounds of the work area and equipment to identify potential problems.
  • Use of personal protective equipment including supplied air respirator and Fall protection gear.
  • Operates forklift & scissor lift.

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

High school diploma or GED.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance/sterilization or equivalent experience.

 

Skills

Ability and desire to learn of a wide variety of disciplines including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, chemical, electrical power, digital and analog electronics, and data communications. 

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills and troubleshooting abilities of mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General Labor Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, hand/finger dexterity, climbing stairs/ladders and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, or transporting up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.

Target Pay Range:  $27.00 to $34.00 - Hourly pay rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0
