JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer Technical Lead to drive the design, development, and implementation of modern, scalable, and resilient digital solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise, architectural leadership, and strategic influence with the ability to collaborate across disciplines in a regulated medical device environment.
The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures (Azure preferred), SaaS system design, event-driven architectures, and secure device/cloud integration. They will lead technical decision-making, mentor engineering teams, and ensure alignment with business, regulatory, and portfolio objectives.
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture & Design
- Lead the architecture and design of highly available, scalable, and secure systems, with emphasis on Azure cloud-native and SaaS architectures.
- Ensure system designs align with cybersecurity best practices, HIPAA, GDPR, and FDA guidance for secure device/cloud integration.
- Apply UML and modeling methods to document, communicate, and validate system designs.
- Anticipate problems, propose technically advanced alternatives, and implement innovative solutions for highly complex engineering challenges.
- Develop and champion advanced technological ideas, guiding their development into final products.
Technical Leadership & Execution
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, mentoring engineers and guiding cross-functional development teams.
- Direct one or more major phases of highly complex engineering work or research, acting as a corporate resource in technical strategy.
- Contribute to project and portfolio governance, ensuring consistent decision-making and alignment across functions.
- Serve as an organization spokesperson on advanced projects, programs, and technical strategy.
- Drive cultural alignment, fostering collaboration, resolving conflicts in architectural priorities, and inspiring cross-functional effectiveness.
Collaboration & Business Alignment
- Partner with product, data, clinical, and business teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
- Understand and manage the cross-functional impact of process changes, ensuring enterprise-level consistency.
- Champion and sponsor both own ideas and the ideas of others, influencing direction across products, functions, and businesses.
- Engage actively with diverse teams, inspire collaboration and driving effectiveness across multiple disciplines.
Execution & Delivery
- Oversee technical quality through code reviews, design reviews, and architectural governance.
- Identify risks, prioritize effectively, and drive completion of multiple complex tasks/projects while avoiding delays and business impact.
- Ensure all systems and applications undergo rigorous testing, quality assurance, and compliance reviews before release.
- Write and maintain technical procedures that impact multiple disciplines and functions.
- Contribute to both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies, ensuring flexibility in ongoing releases and new product development.
Project & Compliance Responsibilities
- Contribute to project planning, risk assessment, and delivery oversight.
- Participate in regulatory, cybersecurity, and safety reviews to ensure compliance with medical device requirements.
- Manage backlog and prioritize applied technologies that increase revenue, security, workflow optimization, and intelligence.
- Ensure all modules, applications, and interfaces undergo appropriate testing and quality evaluation before release.
Qualifications & Skills
Technical Expertise
- Advanced expertise in one modern software technology (e.g., distributed systems, microservices, or data platforms) with broad knowledge across supporting technologies.
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure strongly preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable).
- Deep knowledge of system design, SaaS architectures, event-driven systems, and large-scale cloud-based platforms.
- Proficiency in UML, system modeling, and architecture frameworks.
- Solid development background with object-oriented analysis and design; Python experience required.
- Experience with embedded software, IoT, database, or web development a plus.
Leadership & Communication
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and influence technical strategy at the organizational level.
- Excellent communication skills, able to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen, integrity, and sound decision-making in regulated environments.
- Skilled in influencing senior leaders, inspiring collaboration, and fostering innovation.
Other Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, automation and regulatory compliance standards
- Knowledge of enterprise security and compliance standards.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, HIPAA, GDPR, and FDA requirements for digital systems.
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or related fields.
- Experience with mission-critical systems, preferably medical devices or healthcare applications.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in software development and cloud system design.

Target Pay Range: $125,400.00 to $156,800.00 - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base: 15.0%
