JOB TITLE:  Scientific Strategy Lead, CTT

 

JOB SUMMARY

As a key member of the medical affairs team, this role is also part of the CTT leadership team who is responsible for strategic partnership with the business to develop and own the CTT scientific strategy.

 

Key portion of the strategy would be executed through external interactions and platforms by representing the company to thought leaders and key stakeholders and thus develop to play a scientific thought leadership role in the field of cell and gene therapies.

 

The position requires a high degree of scientific competency in the field of cell and gene therapies and processes, business acumen, and the ability to work both independently and within core teams to develop and successfully implement the strategic objectives of the company.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The role includes engagement with global KOLs and thought leaders as well as speaking engagements to carry the Terumo scientific voice to the market.

Key responsibilities will include leadership in the planning and execution of advisory boards, collaborative studies.

 

  • Lead assessment of scientific data gaps and data generation needs for CTT
  • Accountable for overall scientific data and publication plan to support CTT strategy
  • Together with Scientific Affairs, leads the building of a sound data generation and publication plan.
    • Within their respective scope, responsible for site selection and initiation, study center and investigator oversight, engagement with ethics and competent authority committees, publication planning, preparation and presentation.
  • Work closely with Regional Medical Affairs Leads to ensure strategic intent meets tactical implementation (seamless transition between upstream and downstream medical affairs)
  • Provide scientific input to global CTT strategy
  • Work seamlessly with marketing teams to provide scientific insights on current and future market trends, informing and driving  key scientific initiatives
  • Lead in planning and execution of scientific advisory boards and collaborative studies.
  • Establish collaborations with KOLs and key institutions for data generation and publications across various cell therapy applications.
  • Maintain overall list of KOLs in cell and gene therapy to be leveraged across organization for expert focus groups, advisory boards, keynote presentations, panels, webinars, etc. 
  • Maintain expert knowledge and understanding of clinical, scientific, and technical information in cell and gene therapy space through continuous literature review, conference attendance and liaison with experts, and serves as an expert resource to internal colleagues.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in life sciences or advanced degree in cell and gene therapy related field

 

Experience

Minimum 10 years’ experience in, scientific affairs, scientific marketing, or business development. Biotech or CMO/CDMO experience highly desirable, as well as working knowledge about GMP.

 

Skills

  • Technical - Working knowledge of scientific methodology, study design, implementation and monitoring process. Prior well documented experience in designing and implementing scientific studies, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and scientific presentations.

Represents Terumo BCT to the highest ethical, legal and professional standards in the execution of their responsibilities.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typical Office Environment requirements include reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, traverse, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Additional Physical Requirements

Travel up to 40%  including international travel.

 

Target Pay Range:  $149,400.00 to $186,700.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  20.0%
