Job Description
JOB TITLE: Senior Manager, Global Marketing Communications
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Global Marketing Communications leads a critical enterprise function that aligns and amplifies our customer communications, brand presence, and strategic business initiatives across global markets. This is a highly strategic role which will serve as the primary architect connecting Global Business Marketing (upstream innovation) and Regional Marketing (downstream execution), ensuring a unified and differentiated voice in the market.
This leader will oversee the global congress and events function, provide strategic leadership to regional marketing communications teams, and serve as a key partner to global product marketing, corporate branding, and thought leadership initiatives. The ideal candidate brings a global mindset, a deep understanding of the healthcare and medical device landscape, and a track record of building integrated, scalable marketing communications strategies that drive business growth and brand relevance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Strategic Leadership and Enterprise Alignment:
- Design and execute a global marketing communications strategy that strengthens our competitive positioning and drives business growth.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to Global Business Marketing, Regional Marketing, and Corporate Communications functions, ensuring integrated omni-channel communication from early innovation through to market adoption.
- Lead the integration of brand strategy, thought leadership, and corporate narratives into all external-facing marketing activities from global and regional marketing teams
Global Customer Communications Ownership:
- Lead the strategy, development, and delivery of customer communications for global company updates, operational changes, product lifecycle communications, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Global and Regional Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Patient Access, Regulatory and Commercial Organization to ensure customer messaging is clear, coordinated, and aligned with company positioning.
Congress and Events Excellence:
- Lead the global congress and events strategy aligned with global business positioning, elevating customer engagement, brand visibility, thought leadership impact, and market influence.
- Evolve our approach to events to maximize thought leadership, educational impact, and commercial outcomes, ensuring measurable ROI and alignment with enterprise goals.
Regional Marketing Communications Enablement:
- Provide dotted-line leadership and strategic guidance to regional marketing communications managers, promoting best practices, capability building, and operational excellence across geographies.
- Build scalable global toolkits, messaging frameworks, and best practice programs to support consistent, localized execution.
Campaign and Product Launch Excellence:
- Architect and oversee the development of global product launch communications and strategic marketing campaigns, ensuring consistency, scalability, and market relevance.
- Ensure global campaigns are adaptable for regional relevance while preserving strategic intent, brand and messaging consistency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with Marketing, Corporate Communications functions (Brand & Creative, PR & Social Media), Government Affairs, Medical Affairs, and Commercial Excellence teams to synchronize communications activities and amplify the company’s voice externally.
- Ensure marketing communications activities are fully compliant with regulatory and industry standards while remaining innovative and customer-centric.
Measurement and Continuous Improvement:
- Define KPIs to measure campaign and event success, customer engagement, and brand impact.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through analysis, insights, and best practice sharing.
- Translate insights into actionable strategies for optimizing campaigns, events, and customer experiences.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in global marketing communications, preferably within the healthcare, medical device, biotechnology, or life sciences industries.
- Strong experience building and executing global marketing communications strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Proven track record of managing high-impact congresses, events, and external engagement platforms on a global scale.
- Deep understanding of upstream and downstream marketing dynamics and the ability to connect innovation to customer-facing strategies.
- Demonstrated success influencing in a highly matrixed, global organization.
- Excellent executive communication skills, strategic thinking, and ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.
- Global mindset with cultural agility and sensitivity.
Skills:
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory environments impacting marketing communications.
- Experience working across diverse regions (EMEA, APAC, LATAM, Japan, North America).
- Familiarity with digital marketing tools, CRM systems, content management platforms, and marketing analytics.
Travel:
Approximately 20-30% global travel.
Target Pay Range: $140,900.00 to $176,200.00 - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base: 20.0%
