JOB SUMMARY

 

The Senior Manager, FP&A provides enterprise financial leadership and strategic partnership for Terumo BCT’s global R&D and Information Technology organizations. This role is responsible for financial planning, forecasting, performance management, and investment analysis across R&D portfolios, IT programs, and enabling capabilities that support long-term growth, innovation, and operational excellence. Success in this role requires a high degree of cross-functional partnership with R&D leadership, IT leadership, and Corporate Finance, along with the ability to translate complex technical and innovation-driven investments into clear financial insights for executive decision-making. The role operates at both a strategic and operational level, ensuring alignment between enterprise priorities, governance requirements, and long-range value creation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serve as a key finance partner to global R&D and IT leadership, supporting strategic planning, investment prioritization, and performance management.
  • Actively participate in R&D and IT leadership forums, providing financial insight, constructive challenge, and recommendations to support enterprise objectives.
  • Translate scientific, technical, and digital initiatives into clear financial narratives for senior leadership and executive audiences.
  • Lead financial planning and forecasting activities for global R&D and IT, including annual operating plans, long-range plans, and monthly forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain financial KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting, highlighting trends, drivers, risks, and opportunities relative to plan and strategy.
  • Provide insightful monthly and quarterly performance analysis, including forward-looking commentary and scenario considerations.
  • Lead and review business cases for R&D programs, sustaining and innovation portfolios, digital initiatives, and IT investments.
  • Partner with Commercial Finance to ensure business cases are financially rigorous, aligned with governance standards, and include appropriate risk assessment, sensitivity analysis, and value realization metrics.
  • Perform look-back analyses on completed initiatives to improve forecast accuracy and inform future investment decisions.
  • Support enterprise governance processes related to R&D and IT investments, including prioritization, funding decisions, and resource allocation.
  • Partner with Corporate Finance and other FP&A teams to ensure consistency of assumptions, methodologies, and reporting across the enterprise.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, internal controls, and approval requirements.
  • Partner with Financial Systems and IT teams to enhance FP&A tools, reporting, and data integrity (e.g., SAP, Adaptive Planning, Power BI).
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, reporting efficiency, and analytical capabilities, applying Lean and best-practice FP&A principles.
  • Support alignment across financial systems used for R&D, IT, and enterprise reporting.
  • Provide functional leadership and mentoring to FP&A team members supporting R&D and IT, as applicable.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives requiring advanced financial expertise and stakeholder management.
  • Model Terumo BCT leadership behaviors, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • An advanced degree such as an MBA preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, or related roles within a medium to large, global organization.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting R&D, IT, engineering, or innovation-driven functions strongly preferred.
  • Proven capability in financial modeling, business case development, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed environment with international operations.
  • Prior people management or project leadership experience preferred.

 

Skills

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Deep understanding of financial planning, investment evaluation, and performance management.
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS, internal controls, and governance practices.
  • Advanced financial systems and data analytics skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations.
  • High degree of professional judgment, integrity, and confidence in representing finance perspectives.
  • Ability to balance business partnership with enterprise governance requirements.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; experience applying Lean or process optimization principles.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certification, such as a CMA, CPA or other professional financial certifications preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Target Pay Range:  $142,100.00 to $177,600.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  20.0%
