Senior AI Portfolio Manager
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated Senior AI Portfolio Manager who working under minimal supervision defines the direction of multiple products and drives adoption for enterprise AI platforms, solutions, and shared capabilities. Responsible for translating customer needs into a prioritized roadmap, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring delivered capabilities are trusted, usable, and scalable in a regulated environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Product Management
- Owns product vision, roadmap, and prioritization for AI platform capabilities used across multiple teams and functions.
- Leads discovery with stakeholders to identify high-value problems, define success criteria, and translate needs into clear requirements and outcomes.
- Establishes and manages a backlog and delivery plan, sequencing work based on impact, feasibility, risk, and organizational readiness.
- Partners with engineering and architecture to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and fit for enterprise use.
- Defines adoption strategy, including launch planning, enablement materials, training sessions, and feedback mechanisms.
- Establishes success metrics and regularly evaluates outcomes (adoption, workflow impact, quality, efficiency), adjusting product direction based on evidence.
- Communicates decisions, tradeoffs, and progress clearly to stakeholders at multiple levels, driving alignment and timely resolution of issues.
- Coordinates with governance, risk, and compliance partners to ensure appropriate controls, documentation expectations, and trust considerations are addressed as part of product delivery.
Responsible & Compliant AI
- Follow medical device quality system processes, documentation standards, and audit expectations.
- Support AI risk assessment, validation, traceability, and performance monitoring activities.
- Contribute to explainability, bias evaluation, and safety controls.
- Document best practices and key learnings to support organizational knowledge sharing.
Collaboration & Learning
- Partner with business stakeholders, Digital Transformation, ITS team members, and Terumo Corporate associates.
- Document methods, architecture decisions, and model evaluations.
- Engage in continuous learning on medical device regulations, AI governance, and emerging AI technologies.
- Mentor other team members and contribute to a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports development of reusable product patterns, templates, and playbooks that improve consistency across AI initiatives.
- Contributes to continuous improvement of intake, prioritization, and value realization practices for AI platform work.
- Contributes with defining governance, guidance, guardrails, and policies.
- Serves as an ambassador for effective product thinking and customer-centric delivery across cross-functional teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered
Experience
- Minimun 4 years of recent demonstrated experience owning or leading enterprise-scale products or platforms used by multiple teams or functions.
- Proven success driving prioritization and delivery in ambiguous environments with competing stakeholder demands.
- Experience leading adoption and change management for new capabilities (enablement, rollout planning, feedback loops).
- Experience working with Engineering and Infrastructure teams communicating requirements and driving execution to deliver product features.
Skills
- Strong judgment in prioritization and tradeoff decisions under real constraints
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready synthesis
- Adaptable, curious, and eager to learn both AI and med-tech compliance practices
- Ability to influence across functions without direct authority; strong stakeholder leadership
- Team-oriented, proactive, and committed to ethical, patient-first AI development
- Comfort working with technical teams on complex systems without needing to be the technical decision-maker
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Medical device or healthcare environments (internship, course, lab, project)
- Product Management certification
- Experience with agent-based architecture or conversational AI platforms
- Familiarity with cloud-based delivery models for enterprise software solutions
- Understanding of regulated software concepts (e.g., GxP, ISO 13485, MDSAP, IEC 62304*, SaMD guidance*)
- Familiarity with responsible AI, model interpretability, or bias mitigation
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Typical Office Environment requirements include reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, traverse, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
Target Pay Range: $139,300.00 to $174,100.00 - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base: 10.0%
