Sr. Manager - Electrical Engineering

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Electrical Engineering leads and oversees the global electrical engineering team supporting multiple simultaneous projects in innovation, new product development, and sustaining programs for our medical device portfolio.  This role is responsible for ensuring functional excellence within the Electrical Engineering discipline and collaborates cross-functionally with other engineering teams.  Reporting to the Vice President, Global Product Engineering, this position plays a crucial role in developing and sustaining medical devices while adhering to global regulatory requirements.

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Spearhead electrical engineering efforts across diverse projects in innovation, new product development, and sustaining programs
  • Drive functional excellence within the Electrical Engineering discipline globally, establishing best practices and fostering continuous improvement
  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, providing technical guidance and performance management
  • Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems in medical device development
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of electrical systems and components for medical devices
  • Ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements specific to the medical device industry
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources across multiple simultaneous projects
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in medical device engineering
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and partners in the medical technology sector
  • Contribute to the company's intellectual property portfolio through innovative solutions and patents
  • Present technical information and project status to senior management and stakeholders
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of top engineering talent to build a world-class team
  • Coordinate and align strategies, practices and execution across the global electrical engineering team.
     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Master of Science degree, in Electrical Engineering, preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on medical device development
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity within the medical technology industry
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex electrical engineering projects for medical devices
  • Demonstrated experience with global regulatory requirements in the medical device industry

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities in a multi-project environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on medical device applications
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and standards relevant to medical technology
  • Proficiency in electrical design and PLM software and tools used in medical device development, preferably with Altium and Windchill
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment typical of innovative medical technology companies
  • Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills, particularly in navigating regulatory challenges
  • Deep familiarity with medical device industry regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 60601)
  • Ability to manage budgets and resource allocation across multiple projects
  • Experience working with and managing geographically dispersed teams

Target Pay Range:  $158,800.00 to $198,500.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  20.0%
