JOB TITLE: Senior Cloud Architect

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions while streamlining our development and deployment processes. Position provides technical leadership and expertise in all areas of cloud services and infrastructure, automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes. Managing the full lifecycle of enterprise class solutions and technologies from architecture to operational support. Works closely with other groups such as Applications Development, Database, Administration, Research and Development, and Information Security. The focus of this position is to align Terumo BCT’s medical equipment and digital solutions to customer-facing applications hosted in the cloud.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Within the context of the Business Strategic Plan, operate largely independently supporting information technology through activities such as analyzing business/technical needs, through design, technical implementation and post go-live documentation and operational support.
  • Articulate technical and functional requirements into digital solutions which solve complex technical challenges for internal and external customers.
  • Participate in technical and architectural discussions across teams to establish effective CI/CD pipelines that follow industry standards.
  • Manage and lead various technical projects and other Digital Transformation (DX) initiatives which could be internal or external to the company.
  • Work on an agile team in accordance with agile project management methodologies to plan and manage daily workload.
  • Provide technical leadership during problem investigations, pulling in necessary resources, documenting analysis and recommendations, and following through with recommended solutions.
  • Adhere to ITIL process for implementations, enhancements or any other change to new and existing services.
  • Ensure adherence to ITS processes and policies established at Terumo BCT or identify potential process improvements.
  • Understand the architecture and design of AI-based applications to properly implement modern solutions at Terumo BCT that are secure and compliant.
  • Implement and maintain configuration management and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools.
  • Maximize system performance and minimize issues using high availability and reliability techniques such as utilizing modern monitoring tools, load balancing and redundancy.
  • Collaborate with development and other teams to integrate DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle.
  • Identify training, innovation and actively seek outgrowth opportunities for team members or other departments as applicable.
  • Continually seek out development opportunities to remain aligned with new or upcoming technologies such as AI solutions.
  • Identify key technical areas in support of business continuity requirements.

 

 

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide escalation support to other technical support team members.
  • May be called upon after normal business hours to provide support of customer facing applications.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 10 years overall experience - including a minimum of 5 years experience in a Cloud Architecture role and a minimum of 7 years experience in a Systems Engineering role.   
  • Experience working in a DevOps role or equivalent knowledge of DevOps practices.
  • Expert level experience managing, building and maintaining cloud services, platforms, and infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting an enterprise-grade global environment which consists of regional locations hosting applications.
  • Experience supporting public facing customer applications.

Skills

  • Proven history of developing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud-based architectures using Azure services for custom solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Experience in multi-cloud strategies, hybrid cloud deployments, and workload optimization across cloud providers.
  • Expert level working knowledge of Microsoft server-based products and their interactions with Microsoft client operating systems, and network connectivity/interoperability protocols.
  • Understanding and experience with MQTT architecture and its function within IoT environments.
  • In depth knowledge implementing and usage of cloud-based monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Proficiency in Terraform, Azure Bicep and ARM templates for automated cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), and microservices-based architecture.
  • Experience in cloud cost optimization strategies through Azure Cost Management.
  • Strong experience with complex networks, perimeter security management and routing (e.g., Azure Front Door, API Management).
  • Preferred experience with relational databases such as SQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of one or more industry standard scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) and the ability to leverage that knowledge in developing customized scripting solutions.
  • Ability to develop and deploy scripts to automate solutions, run reports, exports, imports and otherwise simplify repetitive systems management tasks.
  • Ability to proactively identify business problems and opportunities, to recommend and follow through on implementation of solutions.
  • Lead team members as required to commit to and deliver on time and on budget initiatives to customers.
  • Working knowledge of event management, incident management, change management and configuration management, and with the ITIL framework and tools used for these processes. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Cloud certifications (Azure preferred)
  • ITIL certification preferred.
  • DevOps Engineer Expert preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typical office environment requirements include reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, traverse, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Target Pay Range:  $138,900.00 to $173,700.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  10.0%
