Senior Buyer

 

JOB SUMMARY

Lead the daily procurement and supply of materials to support the factory production plan. Ensures material supply meets material demand to support factory production in a timely and cost-effective manner.  Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the team toward meeting established goals, objectives, and strategic plans.  Working with the Procurement manager, develop and maintain metrics to meet established targets.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

  • Responsible for factory direct procurement function supporting production operations with efficient on time direct material supply to meet operational requirements.
  • Be accountable and responsible for the ongoing development and growth of a team of direct procurement buyers, outlining individual goals to meet company objectives and performance management/appraisal.
  • Manage a portfolio of vendors and drive material supply in line with factory demand.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and supply data is maintained in SAP for purchases from assigned vendors.
  • Leads the Lakewood procurement team to ensure effective requisition & PO management, planning, expediting and scheduling of materials supply as required at each factory location
  • Execute through SAP the output of the SIOP demand plan to ensure materials supply to the feed factory builds
  • Conduct consistent supplier reviews with key suppliers to help maintain supplier on time delivery performance, focusing on service and delivery targets.
  • Assist the Procurement Manager to develop and refine procedures and practices to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor rolling forecasts & Purchase Orders to the supply base in a timely manner to ensure flexible production planning & supply to meet factory requirements.
  • Assist in monitoring procurement master data to maintain alignment across all raw materials SKU’s
  • Communicate and alert operations team of material supply risks and associated recovery plans.  Develop effective communications cadence across all focus factories.
  • Monitor new Product introduction projects, including the approval and implementation of new product SKU’s and suppliers.
  • Foster a positive culture of Continuous Improvement engagement and accountability, delivering the Terumo BCT core values and inspiring the culture of Terumo BCT.
  • Identify opportunities to achieve positive cost savings across the supply chain through price negotiations, contract negotiations, and on-going cost down projects.

  • Develop strong relationships with other internal functions including Planning, Quality, Engineering, and Production.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry preferred.

 

 

 

Experience

 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement.
  • Experience gained within a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.

 

Skills

 

  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong data management and analytical skills.
  • Adaptable, flexible and able to work with minimum supervision while prioritizing tasks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP processes.
  • Working knowledge of procurement strategies and practices, with understanding in the disciplines of material procurement within a global manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of current FDA regulatory and ISO requirements.
  • Capability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence.

Additional Physical Requirements

Ability to travel to supplier locations when required.

 

Target Pay Range:  $70,400.00 to $88,000.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
