The Scrum Master is a leader of an Agile Scrum Team whose primary role is to facilitate the team’s success developing quality software and facilitate Agile practices across the organization.  The Scrum Master acts as a servant leader and ensures that the Scrum Team understands and adheres to Agile methodology, practices, and guidelines. As a highly-visible role, there are continued interactions with internal and external cross-functional teams. The Scrum Master helps influencing those inside and outside the Scrum Team to mitigate conflict, understand workload and screen questions and concerns. The Scrum Master helps to manage these interactions to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team.



  • Coach and mentor all levels of a software organization team(s) on Agile practices for future development and cross-functional effectiveness.
  • Help the team(s) continuously improve effectiveness and efficiencies of the Agile team performance and productivity.
  • Ensure that the Scrum team is adhering to and accountable for their obligations.
  • Ensure the quality and execution of sprint plans and ensure that the definition of done is clear.
  • Facilitate scrum events including daily scrums, refinements, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Lead and participate in scrum of scrums or similar cross team events.
  • Ability to remove impediments to the Scrum Team’s progress.
  • Provide visibility to the organization on the progress of the team towards incremental goals.
  • Support the Product Owner in managing the product backlog to maximize value.
  • Foster team health through accountability, transparency, and open communication.
  • Act as a champion of Agile methodologies for the team and within the organization.
  • Provide feedback to line management on each team member’s contribution to team related goals.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement of Agile/Scrum practices within the organization.




Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

  • Agile Scrum Master CSM or higher certification preferred but not required.



  • Minimum 5 years experience preferably in a software discipline. Minimum 2 years working in Agile environment as Scrum Master.
  • Experience on a software development team in a highly regulated environment is preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.



  • Collaborates well with team members and peers, internal and external to the Scrum Team, throughout the entire organization. 
  • Must have excellent communication skills and tact with day-to-day interactions at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be effective in giving and receiving feedback.
  • Must have strong conflict management skills and have continued development in these practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Agile Software Development Lifecycle methodologies including Scrum, XP, Kanban, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile Scrum methods and techniques: User Stories, Backlog Refinement, Planning and Retrospectives, and Maintenance of burndown.
  • Familiar with SAFe methodology and implementations.
  • Experience with Agile planning tools such as TFS, JIRA, etc.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize interpersonal issues and facilitate resolution, including knowing when to escalate.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict with minimal impact to the Scrum team.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach others, internal and external to the Scrum Team, throughout the entire organization.



An equivalent competency level acquired through a variation of these qualifications may be considered.

Target Pay Range:  $111,900  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0
