As a Principal SDET at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, you’ll join a team of talented Developers in Test and work on NextGen application software that supports our medical devices. You will have the opportunity to impact a number of people throughout various stages of their careers and be instrumental in their personal and professional growth. With a clear oversight of how the teams and programs run you will have the opportunity to influence and drive project teams and their outcomes.



  • You will enhance and/or establish processes and practices that drive towards high quality products
  • You will provide technical leadership to our team of SDETs and be responsible for mentoring various engineers with focus on test automation and quality.
  • You will have successfully worked with the team(s) to ship high quality software
  • You will apply your growth mindset through your leadership
  • You will bring and preach the “break the application” mantra!



  • Stay up to date on test engineering best practices, tools, design patterns and frameworks.
  • Mentor team members to grow their technical and inter-personal skills.
  • Ensure coding and testing best practices across the department.
  • Lead the adoption of new technologies.
  • Ensure consistency in process across the department.
  • Support software automation strategies and best practices.
  • Effectively communicate established technologies, frameworks, processes and practices across the department.
  • Maintain full software test automation suite, reusable software components and functional libraries.
  • Apply Continuous integration/ Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) techniques with chosen build pipeline tools.



  • Strong computer science fundamentals such as design patterns, data structures, OOP and software design.
  • Mastery of traditional white and black box software test techniques.
  • Engineering leadership experience including leading teams and developing individuals in their career.
  • A calm composed demeanor
  • Ability to have the difficult conversations when needed with clients or teammates but always with their best interest in mind.
  • Experience working with on and off-shore teams and maintaining consistency throughout.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and applications/embedded software development such as .NET/C#, C++, Python, Typescript/Angular 8+, T-SQL, Java.
  • Ability to deal constructively with problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes.
  • Ability to weigh the available options and choose the right option for the right reasons


Target Pay Range:  $0.00 to $135,000.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  15.0%
