JOB TITLE: Payroll Manager

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Payroll Manager will play a key role in overseeing the end-to-end payroll process of the company's North America entities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing leadership to the payroll team. The role leads the development of scalable processes, oversee the payroll systems environment, and ensures timely and accurate payroll submission and reporting. Payroll Manager will be responsible for setting priorities and performance of daily Payroll functions, while providing day-to-day management and leadership to Payroll team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manage and oversee the entire payroll process for all associates, ensuring accurate and timely processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company policies.
  • Lead in processing complex and high-visibility transactions, including multi-state adjustments, bonus taxation, retroactive adjustments, and year-end tax reconciliations.
  • Ensuring recurring assignments are handled on a timely basis while contributing to special cross-functional projects and addressing unique challenges.
  • Verify timekeeping records and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Audit payroll to ensure accuracy and data integrity with our HRIS.
  • Research and analyze complex payroll issues, develop solutions, and communicate with associates and internal teams.
  • Responsible for working with vendors to ensure the payroll systems are efficient, operational, and properly maintained.
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvement within payroll operations and implement solutions to automate and streamline processes, making them scalable and efficient while maintaining strong quality controls.
  • Set up new state jurisdictions for the US.
  • Lead the quarterly and year-end payroll activities.
  • Ensure timely filings with government agencies.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Assist GL accountant with payroll reconciliations.
  • Partner with cross-functional groups within the company, including tax and people operations teams, on global mobility and business activities to ensure payroll needs are identified, considered, and communicated.
  • Manage internal and external payroll audits to guarantee data integrity.
  • Manage system implementations, integrations, acquisitions, and other payroll projects.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of all wage and hour laws, including garnishments, benefits, leave of absence, 401K/pension, and tax reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute reports, statements, and summaries related to payroll activities.
  • Address associate inquiries regarding payroll matters.

People Management Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the training and development of team members.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring, new staff in the department.
  • Overseeing daily workflow of the department.
  • Providing constructive and timely performance evaluations.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field. Or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a payroll manager in a multi-state, multi-jurisdictional environment.
  • Experience managing payroll for exempt/non-exempt workforce and managing timeclock systems.
  • 4+ years of ADP Workforce Now experience required.
  • MySource HRIS experience preferred.
  • Bullhorn timekeeping system or similar timekeeping system experience required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting in writing and verbally with associates at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations.
  • Able to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Must be able to retain/handle confidential information with integrity.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

Skills

  • Expert in Federal and state tax withholding requirements, garnishment procedures, wage and hour laws, FLSA, Social Security, and Medicare withholding.
  • Sound understanding of payroll accounting requirements and how they relate in the General Ledger.
  • Independent judgment, analytical thinking, and resourcefulness in the resolution of problems and completion of complex transactions.
  • Ability to carry out, interpret, and enforce existing payroll policies, methods, and procedures.
  • Ability to develop methods and procedures relating to the payroll function.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certification such as CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typical Office Environment requirements include reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, traverse, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Additional Physical Requirements

Required to be in person in the Lakewood, CO headquarters full time.

 

Target Pay Range:  $84,000.00 to $105,000.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  10.0%
