JOB TITLE: Software Development Manager - Product

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

Manages the success of the software development life cycle for the Product Definition team, balancing resource management, software development process, and delivery of products to meet customer and business needs. Provides technical leadership and direction for product definition including backlog management, prioritization, team orchestration, SW requirements, and UI/UX activites, influencing the overall success of multiple cross-functional project teams.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manages and provides leadership for the functional group’s development, direction, and effectiveness, adhering to organizational policies and processes, driving functional improvements, supporting overall business and corporate objectives.
  • Manage the full development lifecycle of software applications and SW embedded in devices.
  • Develops project plans and program backlogs to manage multiple project activities that support project completion. May act as program level product owner for multiple agile teams.
  • Has system-wide responsibility on complex components or complex projects within multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Ensures that all modules, applications and interfaces have been thoroughly tested and have been evaluated with appropriate quality management team members.  Ensure that implementation is successful and meets customer/business needs.
  • Uses knowledge of technology and product needs to recommend appropriate action.
  • Guides, channels, facilitate and transfers knowledge of product functionality and business needs.  Helps the development team understand the customer problem to be solved and long term platform vision.
  • Translates technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Recognizes and drives opportunities to share or reuse design and implementation between platforms to realize faster product development.
  • Resolves or facilitates resolution of problems and can evaluate recommendations relating to business opportunities and influence policy and process improvements.
  • Manage financial delivery and adherence to financial budgets.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works across the software development organization to identify and manage cross-dependent projects and resources.
  • Influences customer and management at project lead level.
  • Assists with the review and evaluation of personal performance for junior team members.
  • May be called upon to solve highly technical, complex problems or to consult for other projects.
  • Must participate in regulatory, cybersecurity and safety reviews.
  • Assists with product support escalations, including technical analysis, resource identification and characterization of issues.

 

 

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

 

Experience

Minimum 8 years experience

  • Demonstrated leadership in software development project success.
  • Experience in medical device and/or medical application SW development preferred, including understanding of design controls deliverables required for regulated products.

Skills

  • Communicates effectively with a wide variety of cross-functional marketing, regulatory, quality, engineering and scientific groups (both verbally and in writing) on a broad range of complex issues.
  • Experience acting as product owner within Agile and SAFe development environments
  • Experience with different approaches including formal Waterfall, Agile, and SAFe methodologies.  This includes ongoing maintenance/releases of established applications as well as new applications.
  • Requires team-oriented attitude and vision.
  • Possesses a highly technical and complex knowledge of one software technology or basic knowledge of several technologies. 
  • Demonstrated experience eliciting business and user needs, and driving development teams to deliver working SW on predictable cadence.
  • Demonstrates creativity and takes initiative in problem solving.
  • Strong product development background in a variety of project scales and customer segments
  • Experience using risk analysis and mitigation methodologies.
  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively.

Target Pay Range:  $140,100.00 to $175,100.00 -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  15.0
