Manufacturing Equipment Trainer

 

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of this position is to train assembly technicians to assemble, test, troubleshoot, and perform final acceptance activities on electronic and mechanical subassemblies and electro-mechanical medical devices in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.  Position holder provides leadership and training to enhance the capabilities and skills of other team members.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide training to manufacturing team members on assembly processes, SOP’s, and department procedures.
  • Administers training certification and training records administration.
  • Leads team during manufacturing situations, training events, or projects.
  • Inspects, assembles, tests, troubleshoots, performs final acceptance activities, calibrates and packages highly complex mechanical and electronic sub-assemblies, assemblies and systems, using safe handling, assembly and test techniques.
  • Performs and documents a range of standard manufacturing functional tests, calibration or acceptance activities on manufactured products using applicable test tools.
  • Conducts troubleshooting evaluations and repairs of defective products to meet specifications.
  • Maintains personal accountability for process quality, product quality and product quantity.
  • Demonstrates expertise and accountability in recognizing and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Proactively assists engineers, buyers, and planners in resolving quality, production, process, and raw material issues.
  • Assists engineers in the design, building and implementation of prototypes, test fixtures and production fixtures.
  • Travels to customer sites to assist Field Service in repair or upgrade equipment.
  • Identifies potential issues that may impact production schedule and is a key contributor in formulating the response to maintain those schedules.
  • Represents the Equipment Operations team to other functional groups, customers and suppliers.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements and presents training of procedures to assemblers and other technicians.
  • Proactively improves manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Involved in design transfer and implementation of new products on the manufacturing floor.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Two year technical degree or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in assembly and acceptance activities of the manufacturing area.
  • Extensive knowledge of electro-mechanical manufacturing operating procedures as typically found in a regulated industry.

Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions; reason through mathematical word problems; read tables, scales, graphs and charts quickly and accurately.
  • Understanding and usage of the English language; good understanding of words used in business and regulatory environments; ability to memorize different terms and their meanings; able to read, comprehend and create reports, documents, procedures, etc. that may be technical in nature.
  • Demonstrated ability to assemble, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot mechanical and electronic subassemblies and electromechanical medical devices using safe handling and assembly techniques.
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical principles and analysis mechanical movement.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical principles and electromechanical component interaction.
  • Ability to identify a simple figure that is part of a complete drawing, and to visualize how separate pieces will look.  
  • Ability to spot imperfections or flaws in a series of objects.
  • Requires excellent knowledge of procedures, tools, techniques, materials, and equipment used for the manufacture, testing and calibration for products built in the manufacturing area.
  • Demonstrates advanced level of knowledge regarding the end use of the medical devices, including interaction of disposables products and service requirements.
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and execute build plan with required resources.
  • Advanced knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively (e.g. MS Visio, photo editing software, etc).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of process controls and process improvement techniques.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, and hand/finger dexterity.

  • Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds and transport up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and visual acuity including ability to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to maintain pace with the assembly line.
  • Requires the ability to regularly perform repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to work under florescent lighting.
  • Requires the ability to sit or stand through the duration of a shift.

Target Pay Range: $26.47  to $29.00 - Hourly pay rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0
