Provide leadership and vision for Terumo BCT to excel in its Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) efforts. Drive value creation through high-impact ESG initiatives across the organization. Work in conjunction with senior leadership to create a comprehensive business plan for ESG policies and procedures to be implemented consistently across the company. Develop social, environmental, and, supply chain focus areas and improvement targets. Establish our ESG efforts as a strategic advantage for Terumo BCT.
Conduct research, come up with ideas, develop policies, create detailed plans, build relationships with partner organisations, and then implement and coordinate a range of activities and initiatives which are designed to have a positive impact on environmental, social and governance efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Develop and lead the executiion of a strategy focused on Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) to include a multi-year roadmap. Work will be focused on areas such as energy consumption, resource conservation, recycling, transportation, and sustainable architecture.
- Participates in the short- and long-term planning process that establishes objectives for local and global operations.
- Build working relationships across the company with client-facing business unit leaders as well as practice area leaders, including, human resources, client development, finance, compliance, real estate and marketing to support strategy implementation and communication.
- Lead and oversee the design of comprehensive multi-platform and global ESG education, training and communication strategy, both internally and externally.
- Champion improvement opportunities to accelerate progress towards goals in ESG.
- Collaborate across the organization to identify ESG Key Performance Indicators (“KPI“) for the organization. Design a systematic approach to tracking this data and establishing concrete KPI goals/milestones.
- Drive action to ensure the business delivers against ESG commitments – ranging from environmental targets on climate change and waste, to diversity and community targets.
- Create and implement a company-wide plan for collecting, storing, validating, and communicating ESG data.
- Analyze and audit corporate activities (i.e. the process of waste elimination).
- Influence business units and colleagues to ensure ESG policies are implemented, and track improvements to business processes.
- Proactively engage with our supply chains and key partners on ESG, and carry out supply chain due diligence as and when needed.
- Maintain a broad understanding and awareness of emerging trends in best in class reporting and policy innovations.
- Respond to key ESG surveys, inquires, and ratings agencies as well as customer requests.
- Partner with internal and external communications teams to create ESG & Sustainability content.
- Prepare regular and specialized ESG program reports and presentations, as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- BA/BS degree in a technical environmental field or equivalent practical experience
- Prefer Master's Degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, MBA, Education, Management, Science, Environmental Studies, Technical
Experience
- A minimum of 7 years experience managing ESG, corporate social responsibility and/or sustainability in a corporate setting.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience, 5 of which in an manufacturing capacity.
- Multi-national operations experience in a managerial role, preferably in a matrix management structure.
- Prefer medical device or similarly regulated industry experience.
Skills
- Demonstrable knowledge and enthusiasm working in sustainability or related fields (e.g., corporate responsibility, climate change, waste management, ESG reporting/auditing) is essential.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of corporate ESG, including knowledge of environmental and regulatory issues, and help to develop the team’s understanding of these issues as needed.
- Project management experience spanning multiple corporate functions and operating segments
- Strong communications skills as evidenced by external presentations, written proposals, reports, and correspondence.
- Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and effectively champion a position within multiple competing priorities
- Skilled in achieving goals through influence and objective-sharing without direct authority
- Ability to perform quantitative tasks with speed and accuracy, including collection and management of data.
- Demonstrated expertise in planning, budgeting and project management toward achievement of annual, long term, and strategic business objectives.
Certifications
- None required, but any applicable professional certifications are plus (e.g., GRI, LEED, SASB, ISSP, ACCO)

Global travel estimated between 10-15%.
Target Pay Range: $116,600.00 to $145,800.00 - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base: 10.0%
