JOB TITLE:  Laboratory Scientist



Independently leads/executes research, scientific, technical, or engineering related programs, projects and/or experiments. Assists in setting priorities of the section in the areas of new product development for cell therapy technologies. Establishes and/or directs the development of verification and validation protocols, and procedures to comply with or exceed GMP and international regulatory requirements.



  • Develops and conducts experiments with biological laboratory samples using specialized lab equipment/methods during all phases of the product lifecycle from feasibility through verification and validation
  • Serves as resident subject matter expert in scientific testing methods, assay development and validation
  • Coordinates with laboratory leadership to accomplish objectives and complete required work; initiates and takes ownership of tasks to ensure team results are achieved.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements including maintaining accurate lab records and logs.
  • Evaluates new technologies to increase laboratory capabilities; develops and validates analytical methods
  • Develops laboratory procedures, protocols and reports and promotes safety and infection control standards.
  • Interprets data and performs quantitative analysis to produce reports and information related to research for internal and external audiences
  • Applies practical knowledge to complex scientific problems
  • Participates and supports the problem-solving needs of operating groups for the organization and the development of new products. 
  • Performs accurate data entry into notebooks or computer databases.  Interprets and analyzes scientific data into product reports and summaries.
  • Develops and validates analytical techniques, written procedures, and standard protocols to support research,
  • Teaches, coaches, and gives work direction to scientists, engineers, technicians, or individuals in similar positions in the department.
  • Reviews physical and equipment requirements for laboratory.  Regularly assesses short and long-term needs and prioritizes equipment purchases.





Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

  • Preferred education in physical science, life science, or related science discipline.
  • Masters Degree preferred.



Minimum 8 years experience



  • Excellent oral presentation skills.
  • The individual should possess demonstrated and effective leadership skills and demonstrated knowledge in regulations affecting areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to develop solutions to technical problems of moderate to intermediate complexity, make appropriate decisions, and meet time constraints.
  • Ability to independently design and perform project work or experiments, analyze data, and report results.
  • Complex project management and statistical analysis skills.
  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.


An equivalent competency level acquired through a variation of these qualifications may be considered.



Typical Office Environment requirements include: reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, traverse, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Target Pay Range:  $86,400.00 to $108,000.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
