Position provides technical leadership and expertise in all areas of administration, management, troubleshooting and design of both cloud and on premises server-based hardware, operating systems and client/server based applications.  Performs a range of tasks, which include analysis, evaluation, design, scripting, testing, installation, maintenance, support, and monitoring of server based systems. Work closely with other groups such as Architecture, Applications Development and Information Security to design and develop server based solutions. Provides information technology mentoring and training to team members and internal customers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Within the context of the ITS/Business Strategic Plan, operates largely independently in supporting information technology through activities such as analyzing business/technical needs; designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining, and documenting information technology solutions
  • Works closely with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security and Application Development to design, engineer, develop and implement new, changed or enhanced solutions; Responsible for documenting, mentoring and training other Systems Administrators to support deployed solutions
  • Provides subject matter expertise and escalated operational support for resolving incidents involving storage and server based, hardware, operating systems, applications and clients
  • Develops, trains to, and maintains pertinent documentation and procedures according to industry, vendor, Terumo BCT, and ITS standards
  • Effectively monitors servers, storage and enterprise applications performance, making changes as necessary  to maximize performance
  • Acts as an escalation resource for all areas within the Systems Administration teams
  • Following Terumo BCT ITIL processes, position will lead problem investigation teams, pulling in necessary resources, documenting analysis and recommendations, and following through on recommended solutions
  • Will act as technical lead and systems liaison on ITS projects and other initiative
  • May be called upon to manage various technical projects, and other ITS initiatives
  • Provides technical leadership during incidents (outages), and regular maintenance activities

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shares on-call rotation responsibility with team members for 24-hour problem resolution

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered

 

Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience

  • Deployment and maintenance of server class hardware, Microsoft server operating systems and related enterprise applications, services and protocols, including integrations with 3rd party COTS and custom developed applications within an enterprise (600+ server) environment
  • Hands on experience working with cloud infrastructure and design with expertise in Microsoft Azure
  • Experience in one or more of the following Infrastructure as Code services: Terraform, Ansible, Azure Resource Manager, Chef
  • Experience deploying and managing a diverse set of services, including: Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Mgmt., MS Clustering, ISA/TMG, Lync, IIS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, Citrix, Antivirus, backup and recovery etc.
  • Implementation and management of external SAN and/or NAS storage arrays (preferably NetApp)
  • Design, implementation and management of Windows Active Directory domains, sites, users, groups, policies, replication topology, and schema, logons scripts and profiles
  • Design and execution of enterprise backup and recovery schema

 

Skills

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft server-based products and their interactions with Microsoft client operating systems, and network connectivity/interoperability protocols
  • Ability to develop, install, configure and maintain operating systems, virtualization solutions, and enterprise wide applicationsoftware
  • Ability to design and implement backup and recovery solutions for operating systems and associated applications.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize servers for use by applications, databases, and utilities
  • Ability to build complete project plans, including detailed task assessment, resource recommendations, dependency analysis and implementation per plan
  • Ability to design, deploy and maintain enterprise server virtualization (VMWare Preferred) in a multiple VM farm configuration
  • Knowledge of one or more industry standard scripting languages (e.g., Powershell, Python, Bash, etc.) and the ability to leverage that knowledge in developing customized scripting solutions
  • Ability to design and manage storage solutions
  • Working knowledge of network architectures, topology, TCP/IP protocols and configuration.
  • Ability to design, implement and manage DNS configuration on both Windows and Linux BIND for complex resolution requirements (e.g., split horizon, conditional forwarding, stub domains, etc.)
  • Ability to develop and deploy scripts using  Powershell, Bash, Python etc. to automate solutions, run reports, exports, imports and otherwise simplify repetitive systems management tasks
  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current Microsoft Systems Engineering certificate preferred
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or Microsoft Azure Administrator preferred
  • VM Certification preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typical Office Environment requirements include: reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, walking, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Additional Physical Requirements

  • Travel to Terumo BCT global locations (average once per year).
  • Must be able to work non-standard hours, including maintenance weekends (on average once per month).

 

Target Pay Range:  $90,000 to $120,000  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
