Senior Systems Administrator

 

JOB SUMMARY

Position provides technical leadership and expertise in the design, engineering, automation and lifecycle management of hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure platforms. Leads the development of scalable, secure, and highly available systems using infrastructure-as-code where applicable, automation frameworks, and modern observability practices. Collaborates cross-functionally to deliver resilient, cost-effective platform solutions aligned with business goals and cybersecurity objectives. Provides mentoring and training to team members and internal customers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Operates by promoting information technology through activities such as analyzing business/technical needs; designing, building, testing, implementing, maintaining, and documenting solutions that ensure high uptime
  • Proactively analyzes technology stack for end-of-life, deprecated and non-supported solutions and implements appropriate solutions to ensure reliability and stability
  • Provides subject matter expertise and escalated operational support for resolving incidents involving cloud applications, hybrid storage solutions, enterprise grade hardware, operating systems and on premises applications
  • Administer and support varied technologies that include Microsoft, Nutanix, VMware, Everpure, Cohesity, NetApp Cisco, and Dell
  • Develops and implement technology risk assessments, business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Creates and maintains procedures and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and virtual machines.
  • Design and implement processes for monitoring all datacenter end points, to include improvements on mean time to recover (MTTR) and adhering to specific SLA response time 
  • Define, document and implement patch/upgrade procedures which include testing and production promotion process
  • Reduce manual operations through scripting and orchestration
  • Optimize cloud resource consumption and cost efficiency

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all datacenter and cloud systems comply with Terumo corporate Cybersecurity requirements
  • Provides technical leadership during incidents (outages), and regular maintenance activities
  • Provide after-hours support for cloud and Infrastructure related emergencies, including occasional weekend maintenance
  • Shares on-call rotation responsibility with team members for 24-hour problem resolution
  • Ability to work within a team and provide leadership in the design, deployment, and support of infrastructure systems
  • Performs majority of duties following the agile project methodology

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered

 

Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience working in System Administration, preferably in a hybrid cloud environment

 

Skills

  • Expertise in designing, deploying and maintaining enterprise server virtualization (Nutanix or VMware) in a multiple node/host configuration
  • Strong knowledge of network architectures, topology, TCP/IP protocols and configuration
  • Proficient in LAN routing and switching design configuration and troubleshooting (VLANs, IP Subnetting, 802.1Q

Trunks, Azure VNETs)

  • Implementation and management of external SAN and/or NAS storage arrays
  • Ability to design, implement and manage DNS configuration on both Windows and Linux operating systems for complex resolution requirements
  • Solid experience in designing and implementing appropriate enterprise level redundancy along with formalized backup and recovery solutions
  • Proficiency in analyzing and optimizing modern datacenter infrastructure to align with technology best practices
  • Ability to build complete project plans, including detailed task assessment, resource recommendations, dependency analysis and implementation of plan
  • Knowledge of one or more industry standard scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.) and the ability to leverage that knowledge in developing customized scripting solutions
  • Current experience working with cloud infrastructure, primarily expertise in the Microsoft Azure cloud with the ability to leverage Entra ID, Azure Arc, Azure monitor and Azure SQL, Azure Storage, Azure VMs, and Virtual Networks
  • Infrastructure as code (IaC) approach to building and maintaining platforms utilizing tools such as Terraform or Bicep
  • Experience deploying and operating Kubernetes clusters in a hybrid cloud environment
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to identify, research, and resolve complex technical issues
  • Robust experience in the administration of Windows Server, Windows client and Linux operating systems

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current Microsoft Systems Engineering certificate preferred
  • VMWare Certified Professional, Data Center Virtualization
  • Nutanix Certified Professional preferred
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or Microsoft Azure Administrator preferred

Additional Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work non-standard hours, including maintenance weekends (on average once per quarter).

 

 

Target Pay Range:  $98,100.00 to $122,600.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
