Human Resources Benefits Specialist (Workmans Comp)

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Benefits Specialist supports the day-to-day administration of the U.S. health and wellness programs for Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies in a variety of occupational health and wellness benefit programs. This role works closely with Health and Wellness Nurse and Senior Analyst in support of employees’ occupational health services and wellbeing benefit programs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

Health and Wellness:

  • Assist the Health and Wellness (Occupational Health Services) Managing Nurse with various local occupational health and wellness activities and programs. (i.e., flu shots, ART program, wellness fairs)
  • Provides case management services related to occupational health and workers’ compensation including return to work restrictions.
  • Responsible for data input and maintain records of accidents, illnesses, and medical treatments. Evaluates treatment of all occupational injuries and illnesses by designated providers. 
  • Coordinate health surveillance examinations in accordance with OSHA standards (i.e., respiratory, hearing conservation, ETO (ethylene oxide), bloodborne pathogens), reasonable suspicion and fit for duty evaluations in accordance with Company policies.
  • Provides general guidance to management on employee health matters.
  • Educates and provides resources to associates while delivering programs and presentations on widespread occupational health matters.
  • Administers and interprets Health Services policies and processes in compliance with federal and state regulations (i.e., HIPAA/OSHA).
  • Maintains knowledge of changing laws and regulations in Occupational Health and provides input in implementation of programs designed to comply.
  • Assists in providing day-to-day administration and vendor management for health and welfare, leave of absence and retirement programs.
  • Assists with annual benefits open enrollment and new hire benefits orientations.

Total Rewards:

  • Provide support to streamline, simplify and ensure operational excellence in the execution of global Total Rewards programs.
  • Provide support with severances/separations, and reorganizations.
  • Provide support to the Global Rewards Team on key projects and initiatives.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • One (1) to Three (3) years of occupational health and wellness, Human Resources/Benefits administration and/or related area of experience. 
  • Basic knowledge and experience of benefits plans, laws, and regulations to include ACA, ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, etc.
  • Ability to determine appropriate solutions and resolve sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation with ability to provide service and remain focused even during emotionally charged circumstances.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with HR systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • Demonstrated process improvement and project management capability.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated presentation/facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgement and discretion with highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active BLS (Basic Life Support)/CPR and First Aid certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office Environment requirements include reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, walking, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting up-to 20 pounds.

Target Pay Range:  $26.00 to $32.00 -  Hourly pay rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
