The Global Trade Compliance Specialist in Lakewood, Colorado supports the Global Trade function in maintaining import and export requirements and controls at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies (TBCT). The Global Trade Specialist must be able to interpret commodity classifications, trade data and transactional risks to ensure compliance with all applicable import/export laws, regulations and regulatory requirements. This role is also responsible for maintaining trade compliance documentation related to compliance decisions and processes.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Resolve custom clearance issues or discrepancies.
  • Support the creation and implementation of trade data: government agency communications (ACE, CTPAT), and facilitate communication with US Brokers as required.
  • HTS Classification: Review, audit, and maintain accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications.
  • Documentation Review: Thoroughly review and analyze import documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • License Handling: Oversee the end-to-end process for obtaining, renewing, and executing export licenses globally, ensuring alignment with operational needs and legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with screening of the denied parties.
  • Customs Broker Liaison: Collaborate with customs brokers to resolve import-related issues and ensure timely clearance of goods.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, logistics, legal, and procurement teams to ensure compliant movement of goods across borders.
  • Perform transactional risk analysis.
  • Monitor agency relevant regulatory changes & communicate cross-functionally with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on compliance projects and initiatives with other teams within the company, including Legal, Regulatory, Sales and Marketing and the legal and compliance departments of Terumo Group companies.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders throughout the company.
  • Strong communication skills and cross-cultural maturity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in customs, risk, finance, medical devices or logistics with relevant international trade background.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
  • Experience with GTM software platforms (e.g., SAP GTS, Oracle GTM) preferred.

 

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of trade compliance, customs filing, duty/tax management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement across global operations, legal, commercial finance, and compliance teams.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory changes and assess financial impact.
  • Knowledge of Duty Drawback programs.
  • Expertise in Country-of-Origin determination.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms.
  • Understanding of USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement) and other trade programs.
  • Familiarity with export logistics and operations.

TRAVEL

There will be an occasional requirement to work outside of normal business hours.

Target Pay Range:  $84,300.00 to $105,400.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data

 

Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
