Plans and directs the development of new products and major engineering projects of a complex nature.  Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.  Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project. 



  • Works on significant and unique issues where analysis requires evaluation of intangibles.  Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation of criteria for obtaining results
  • Directs one or more major phases of highly complex engineering work or research
  • Provides significant input into technical strategy, acting as a corporate resource
  • Anticipates problems, generates technically advanced alternatives and implements innovative solutions for complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product 
  • Understands the impact process change in one area will have on other areas and manages the impact of changes.
  • Identifies risks and understands how to approach and complete multiple tasks/projects, avoiding major delays in schedules and product introduction or eventual loss of business 
  • Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs
  • Writes technical procedures on various processes that impact multiple disciplines
  • Champions and sponsors own ideas of others within and across products, functions and businesses, and significantly influences team direction and incorporation of innovative member ideas
  • Engages actively with, inspires and drives the effectiveness of teams that integrate multiple functions/disciplines and have broad business impact  



  • Work direction responsibility may include technicians and junior engineers
  • May work with manufacturing and other functional groups on manufacturing and regulatory compliance issues





  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered
  • Bachelor of Science degree or Master of Science degree in Engineering preferred



  • Minimum 15 years experience.
  • Two years of GMP manufacturing experience required



  • Demonstrated ability to interact productively and to effectively influence peers and external colleague and senior management
  • Knowledge of FDA regulatory and ISO requirements and trends affecting medical devices
  • Experienced with design control methodologies
  • Experience with developing medical products in regulated industry
  • Demonstrated skills in technical innovation, technical leadership, mechanical or chemical engineering, fluids engineering, and cellular biology
  • Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on projects internally and externally
  • Follows and develops technical specification requirements and provides significant input on technical procedures on various processes that impact multiple disciplines
  • Regularly and effectively presents complex technical information, analysis, and responds to questions from technical staff members, management and external key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing


An equivalent competency level acquired through a variation of these qualifications may be considered.



General Labor Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, hand/finger dexterity, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, or transporting up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.

Target Pay Range:  $130,700.00 to $163,400.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  20.0%
