JOB TITLE: Director, Strategic Valuation & Partnerships

JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Strategic Valuation & Partnerships is the enterprise’s chief architect for complex financial modeling, valuation, and deal analysis supporting Terumo BCT’s global growth, sustainability, and localization initiatives. Reporting directly to the Office of the CEO, this leader plays a pivotal role in shaping “One Terumo” investment strategies that drive enterprise value across regions, business entities, and global markets.

This role blends deep valuation expertise with strategic insight into evaluating new markets, assessing partnerships, M&A opportunities, and translating highly complex financial scenarios into clear, compelling narratives for non‑technical leaders, including executive leadership and the Board of Directors. Operating with high autonomy, this leader builds the financial backbone for enterprise decision-making, creating sophisticated models that span geographies, regulatory environments, business models, and emerging commercial pathways.

This individual partners closely with New Ventures Leader and Market Development Leader to evaluate and negotiate Public/Private Partnerships, country‑specific infrastructure investments, and creative deal structures that considers commercial, regulatory, and geopolitical risks. The role requires exceptional analytical rigor, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to synthesize disparate data into actionable insights that influence enterprise strategy.

This is a strategic thinker, influential communicator, and disciplined operator who earns trust quickly with internal and external stakeholders and can tell a compelling story through data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Financial Modeling, Valuation & Decision Support

  • Build highly complex, multivariable financial models that evaluate new markets, commercial pathways, sustainability/localization initiatives, and partnership structures.

  • Develop valuation frameworks for M&A, strategic investments, and co‑development opportunities across Terumo Business Entities.

  • Translate sophisticated financial analyses into clear, concise insights for senior leaders, the Office of the CEO, and the Board of Directors.

  • Assess risk, sensitivity, and scenario impacts across global markets, regulatory environments, and geopolitical contexts.

  • Create financial narratives that support enterprise strategy, investment decisions, and executive‑level storytelling.

Strategic Partnerships, M&A & External Engagement

  • Evaluate and shape partnership, alliance, and co‑commercialization opportunities that advance sustainability, localization, and enterprise growth objectives.

  • Partner with the New Ventures Leader to participate in negotiations with government officials, shaping Public/Private Partnerships and creative deal structures for New Ventures.

  • Conduct due diligence, financial modeling, synergy identification, and integration planning for potential deals.

  • Build trusted relationships with external partners, investors, government stakeholders, and industry leaders to support deal-making and strategic collaboration.

  • Develop win‑win financial constructs that align partner capabilities with Terumo’s strategic priorities and long-term enterprise value creation.

Enterprise Strategy, Market Intelligence & “One Terumo” Alignment

  • Partner with Global Enterprise Strategy and Strategic Planning to evaluate new markets, business models, and commercialization pathways.

  • Provide financial insight into strategic plans, opportunity assessments, and enterprise prioritization across Terumo Business Entities.

  • Build business cases that integrate market dynamics, competitive intelligence, regulatory considerations, and financial feasibility.

  • Support enterprise idea funnel governance with rigorous financial evaluation and readiness criteria.

  • Ensure alignment across regions and business units to enable “One Terumo” investments that drive GS31 and long-term profitable growth.

Global Financial Architecture & Operational Rigor

  • Establish financial frameworks, metrics, and governance mechanisms that support disciplined execution of growth initiatives.

  • Strengthen financial modeling standards, forecasting accuracy, and valuation methodologies across the enterprise.

  • Ensure financial integrity, compliance, and controllership in partnership with Finance and regional teams.

  • Drive operational cadence, scenario planning, and risk management for global initiatives, including country-specific infrastructure investments led by the Market Development Leader.

Leadership, Influence & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Influence without authority across a highly matrixed global organization and diverse Terumo Business Entities.

  • Build strong relationships with regional leaders, commercial teams, product teams, finance, and external stakeholders.

  • Communicate complex concepts with clarity, empathy, and executive presence — including presentations to the Office of the CEO and Board of Directors.

  • Foster a culture of analytical rigor, curiosity, and continuous improvement.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the SVP, Marketing Enablement and the Office of the CEO, contributing to enterprise growth strategy and global investment prioritization.

  • Strategic mindset with ability to connect financial insights to enterprise strategy.
