Category Manager, Professional Services      

 

Job Summary

Executes and implements effective procurement strategies for Terumo BCT’s Professional Services category for indirect procurement, and other categories as assigned. Develops short-term and long-term strategies that align with the Company goals for reducing costs and meeting financial expectations. Continuously improves the Company’s purchasing practices by identifying and leading efforts to proactively consolidate category spend, manage supplier performance, mitigate risk, gain visibility to total spend and reduce total costs. Performs spend analysis, market & supplier assessments to ensure best in class strategic sourcing strategies and category spend management. The Professional Services category includes strategies for the management of Contingent Labor and Consulting services across all categories of spending.

 

Essential Duties

  • Directs and executes strategic sourcing strategies, best practices, and initiatives that support improvements in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, improved coordination, delivery, pricing, lead-times, payment, risk compliance and other areas as identified.
  • Executes category sourcing strategies including development and execution of RFIs and RFPs, documents bid events through correspondence to suppliers; develops selection criteria and drives the selection of suppliers in collaboration with a cross-functional teams; conducts supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier management.
  • Actively seeks ways to streamline business processes; researches and provides information on industry category trends and best practices.
  • Develops negotiation strategies, gains alignment from stakeholders, leads cross-functional, category-based negotiation teams, and implements appropriate supplier risk analysis. Directly negotiates with suppliers.
  • Uses spend information/data and business knowledge to identify sourcing projects for individual sub-categories and develops an overall plan.
  • Manages category performance by adhering to internal savings goals and reviewing financial models for commodity type items. Ensures spend portfolio for reoccurring managed spend is balanced through coordinated sourcing waves and leveraged with Capital project sourcing activities.
  • Ability to forge close working relationships throughout the company.
  • Drives supplier performance improvements.
  • Prepares business cases, including ROI models and effectively presents cost savings proposals to appropriate parties for approval and qualification.
  • Ensures purchasing compliance with legal and financial requirements (e.g., JSOX), procurement policies and preferred supplier agreements. 

 

Minimum Qualifications Requirements

 

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master’s degree preferred.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Procurement or category management in a large, multi-national company.
  • Experience managing or having supported enterprise-wide Contingent Labor programs.
  • Demonstrated sourcing experience leading RFx’s, conducting supplier management activities, and managing a sourcing category for Professional Services and other categories.
  • Proficient at standard sourcing and category management concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven critical thinking, analyzing, and crafting solutions from financial data.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of business requirements and category ownership having created categories strategies with sound analytics.
  • Excellent understanding of contracts and contract management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and possess the ability to thrive in a continuous improvement environment.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, moving seamlessly from tactical to strategic tasks.
  • Must have a keen eye for detail, provide insights based on market conditions and trends, optimize value from/with suppliers, and improve and influence the decision-making process.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute negotiation strategies. Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, reliable, persuasive and an excellent team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence.
  • Proven ability to positively persuade and influence decision making, at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize well and maintain appropriate balance in a fast-paced, heavy-workload environment.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CPSM, CPM, CPP, CPIM, or other designation preferred but not required.

Target Pay Range:  $96,600.00 to $120,800.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  10.0%
