Working under minimal supervision, the Calibration Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining administrative and technical activities for the successful operation of the metrology activities. Entails locating/submitting equipment for calibration, interacting with the metrology databases and creating records, and maintaining device inventory. Interacts regularly with the calibration service supplier.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • The CalibrationTechnician will carry out work orders for both preventive and corrective purposes, making use of their knowledge and expertise on the job to identify useful and equivalent parts.
  • Will ensure accurate records are maintained on calibrated equipment used in determining product quality for repair stations and new production activities.
  • Work may include taking accurate equipment measurements and tagging.
  • This role also includes being responsible for implementing accurate, effective, and resourceful calibration support processes.
  • Will plan and coordinate calibration activities with calibration vendor with speed and accuracy.
  • Perform the necessary checks on the equipment to ensure they are durable and meet design requirements.
  • Ensure alignment with production activities by developing good relationships with the manufacturing community, calibration vendor and related teams related to calibration.
  • Manage and operate all calibration system labels and assist in the periodic vendor and internal quality audits.
  • Be a liaison for the metrology organization and working with internal and external customers to facilitate work activities.
  • Ensure that calibration documents are constantly and properly updated and to provide up-to-date records of activities for future referencing.
  • Oversee difficult technical repairs to ensure consistently available equipment, resulting in low-defect, high-volume production.
  • Participate in internal and external audits by providing records and describing the process for accurate audit results.
  • Maintain production equipment aligned with Metrology SOPs and related manufacturing standards.
  • Conform to safety guidelines and regulations to guarantee workplace safety.
  • Respond and execute work with a sense of urgency and utilizes support systems to minimize downtime.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with company and department policies, procedures, and guidelines.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May lead special projects.
  • May handle, collect, label and transfer hazardous waste following established procedures and guidelines.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

High school diploma or GED. Certification or experience in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing practices, preferred.

 

Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience with quality related inspections and approvals, preferably in medical device industry.

Skills

  • Written and verbal communication skills, ensuring that instructions are properly given and understood to avoid error
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must to be able to interact effectively with persons of different background.
  • Strong organizational skills to be able to manage equipment resources under his/her responsibility.
  • Must be multitasking: Complete multiple assignments within a reasonable period, and meet activity deadlines
  • Good decision-making skills: Logical and analytical thinking to ensure effective decisions are made concerning the use of equipment, to avoid equipment failure during production process.
  • Demonstrated fluency with database and information systems required by the department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, and hand/finger dexterity.

  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment, adhere to associated policies, and perform gowning of clean room attire.
  • Requires ability to lift up to 25 pounds and transport up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Must be able to work under florescent lighting.
  • Requires the ability to sit or stand through the duration of a shift.

Target Pay Range:  $53,900.00 to $67,300.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
