Terumo BCT Ltd - located in Larne - manufactures a range of sterile fluids for human and veterinary use. A vacancy currently exists for a full-time permanent Senior Laboratory Analyst to join our dynamic chemistry team. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and results-driven professional to play a key role in our laboratory operations.

 

SENIOR LABORATORY ANALYST, CHEMISTRY

Duties will include:

  • Working under minimal supervision from the Laboratory Manager ensuring all duties of the QC analysts and technicians are completed.
  • Have responsibility for the day-to-day management of direct reports and the use of TBCT systems for resource management.
  • To use, lead and train others in the correct use and calibration of all analytical equipment within the Quality Control Laboratory and be responsible for their calibration.
  • Co-ordinate, implement and participate where necessary, in the testing of water, raw material, finished goods and in-process samples, based on materials/goods required for product release or use in manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct and document out-of-specification (OOS), non-conformance and CAPA investigations, and support with root cause analysis.
  • Schedule and perform where necessary, routine internal and external calibration activities of laboratory equipment and ensure that all such equipment is maintained in good working order.
  • Contribute to the writing and review of SOPs, specifications, analytical methods and validation of methods.
  • Contribute and participate in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives and quality audits.
  • Assist in meeting ongoing metric driven goals and KPIs.
  • Review and approve analytical records, for product release and availability for manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal quality standards.
  • Organising and prioritising own and direct reports workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate orders of chemicals and resources for routine lab analysis.
  • Participating in periodic Reference Standard and chemical stock checks.
  • Ensure strict compliance with cGMP, MHRA/FDA regulations and company procedures.

 

Applicants must possess:

  • A degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a closely related subject.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in an analytical laboratory with a good knowledge of GLP.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and scientific judgement.
  • The ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment – (this role may necessitate working additional hours and/or shifts as and when required).

 

 

In addition, the following would be a distinct advantage:

  • Previous supervisory/team leadership experience would be preferable.
  • Knowledge of SAP for materials control/movements would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, analytical method development and validation and the calibration of equipment.
  • Knowledge, use and maintenance of HPLC, AA, UV, FTIR, Autotitrator, Karl Fischer and GC equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience working to ICH Quality guidelines for Validation.
