Summary of Responsibilities:

Working under minimal supervision, this position includes daily oversight and monitoring of existing contracts, custodial/cleaning processes, and associates. This role makes a substantial contribution to the development of new processes and systems to meet current and future needs in a rapidly changing environment.

Responsible for the daily execution of Facility Engineering services and processes that support the core business. Coordinates, schedules, and executes daily facility activities to ensure departmental projects meet safety, cost-effectiveness, quality, and timeline requirements. Develops preventive and corrective maintenance programs to achieve daily manufacturing goals. Oversees the Facilities Supervisor to ensure proper allocation of internal and external resources for completing critical maintenance tasks during plant shutdowns and daily building maintenance. Operates facilities in compliance with state, federal, and local regulations in Costa Rica.


Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for following quality system requirements, including but not limited to providing guidance and training to associates on quality system regulations and understanding all quality system processes.
  • Provides preventive maintenance techniques and equipment repair processes to meet customer service expectations.
  • Analyzes, creates, and leads technical solutions for facility/utility equipment issues by working with facility technicians and communicating information to facilities/customers.
  • Develops KPIs and SLAs with senior facility leadership, driving realistic task/project completion to adequately support operational needs. Manages work orders and assigns new service requests to ensure timely and effective responses to internal customers.
  • Conducts routine process improvement sessions, including training and feedback to facility technicians to improve facility performance indicators.
  • Keeps the Facilities and Maintenance Engineering Manager informed of major equipment repairs that pose risks or delays to manufacturing.
  • Ensures all environmental health and safety processes are followed by contractors or facility personnel executing projects or maintenance activities. Ensures compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and international regulations related to facilities. Ensures OSHA compliance and all relevant environmental protection laws. Complies with applicable building codes and human safety standards.
  • Participates in project team meetings on behalf of the work unit, contributing projects, ideas, methods, or processes to improve unit/company performance.
  • Oversees and supervises training to maintain facility technicians' qualifications within the Quality System.
  • Manages daily cleaning, cafeteria, and building maintenance associates, including quality requirements within the controlled environment.
  • Partners with departments across the company to provide facility support for projects and customer requests.
  • Trains and integrates new associates in safety and security procedures, processes, and systems.
  • Inspects own work and that of lower-level associates and contractors to verify compliance with drawings, sketches, written procedures, verbal instructions, or quality requirements.
  • Oversees all service contracts related to the Facilities and Maintenance Department.
  • Creates, maintains, and analyzes data for the functional area and provides follow-up actions to improve KPIs for the facilities and maintenance departments.
  • Executes and controls the budget assigned for departmental projects or maintenance.
  • Maintains and improves internal procedures, including those related to the regulated environment.
  • Ensures compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Supports and implements Quality Assurance actions.
  • Documents any investigation requiring corrective and preventive actions following quality system requirements.
  • Assists with ongoing equipment maintenance and subsequent documentation.
  • Maintains consistency in matters related to company policy and practice.
  • Handles all non-conformities in the facilities department related to the QMS (NCs, CAPAs).
  • Identifies, plans, and executes high-impact improvement projects in the facilities and production equipment maintenance areas, aiming for a 5% annual reduction.
  • Must fulfill the role of Manager in their absence.
  • Knowledge in implementation and monitoring of TPM processes.
