Industrial Engineer

Job summary:

Design and update the standards in terms of quality of service. Perform analysis of the operational processes of the company, flow charts; scheduling of operations, activity levels and others, to design improvements in them, seeking to increase efficiency and effectiveness.  Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project according to the regulations and procedures implemented in Terumo BCT.

Essential duties:

• Develop and maintain Labor and Machine cost Standards.
• Develop and maintain Raw Material Yield analysis/material usage variance (MUV).
• Control capacity requirements of manufacturing lines, including machine, headcount, and space constraints to ensure.
• production demands can be met, must lead the request of capital projects to increase capacity by writing request capital expenditure (RCE’s).
• Perform activities related to documentation as: Revision of standard Operation Procedures (SOP's), revision of basic operating procedures for List Numbers (BOPL's), revision of Bill of Materials (BOM's), coordination of Work Order Packages indexes and forms.
• Define/draw clean room layout distribution in coordination with manufacturing areas in order to optimize the use of it, including location of new lines, flow optimization (material and people) and space utilization to improve efficiencies in the plant.
• Support transfer activities as: implementation of new processes and new equipment and start up of manufacturing lines.
• Analyze and design ergonomic improvement activities in the manufacturing area in order to reduce or minimize job related injuries associated with existing or proposed work practices or workstations.
• Write request capital expenditure (RCE’s) to implement the projects according to the year capital plan.
• Analyze, quantify, and comply cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives in area of responsibility, including the identification and development of financial justification, must support the implementation process when necessary.
• Supervise assigned personnel by coaching, mentoring, and training, by assuring they are properly trained for their job.
• Support company´s strategic projects.
• Develop; keep tracking and control of the kaizen events, workshops and Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA’s) analysis performed on the respective areas.
• Serve as change agent by stimulating, communicating, and institutionalizing business process improvement (BPI) initiatives.
• Conduct regular project reviews with leaders for progress, status, and issues.
• Serve as expert resource to the business unit on business process improvement (BPI) philosophies and approach.
• Drive waste (lean) and variation (six sigma) in process through proper use of tools.
  Work direction responsibility may include technicians.
• May work with manufacturing and other functional groups on manufacturing and regulatory compliance issues.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
• Bachelor of Science degree or Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.

Licenses or certifications:

• N/A.

Experience:

• 2 years experience as process, manufacturing o project engineer or similar.
• At least 2 years of GMP manufacturing experience required.
• Knowledge in handling different types of automation, solvents, manual assembly, packing and different final lines, ultrasonic welding, radio frequency or similar.
• Knowledge in tools for problem solving.
