Job summary:

Under minimal supervision, performs difficult, complex, and highly specialized logistics operations, and provides leadership with Global logistics and logistics Costa Rica team.  Work requires a comprehensive knowledge of the logistics field in which it operates.  Serves as an expert resource in the occupational field.  Incumbent often makes decisions and commitments without prior approval on matters that are non-routine and important in nature.  Position requires a high level of sensitivity, diplomacy and tact and the ability to maintain confidentiality of associate and company information. 

 

Essential duties:

  • Provides leadership for the functional group’s development, direction, and effectiveness, adhering to organizational policies and processes and supporting overall business and corporate objectives.
  • Develop people based on business continuity plans. Identifies problems under a leading path and provide possible solutions.
  • Supervise the team and department’s daily activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organization’s policies.
  • Analyzes alternatives to establish the best routes and costs to serve customers worldwide both internal and external customers.
  • Monitors by using inbound, outbound, sterilization and 3PL activities and performance levels to ensure customers’ expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Create and implement controls to assure local and international trade compliance (operations book, Inbound DUAS TICA closure, outbound system closure, archive)
  • Provides high level administrative support that is difficult, complex, and highly specialized to the Logistics Department which involves organizational and coordination activities, as well as independent research and data collection.
  • Monitors promptness of documentation entry into appropriate databases, distributes and compiles reports from various systems and sources, and validates accuracy of input.
  • Maintains system accuracy and processes corrective actions as required.
  • Gathers information about operations to measure effectiveness, improve processes, resolve problems, and optimize operational expenses and customer service levels.
  • Provide expertise for local and the Global import/export functions, including trade and security regulatory compliance (Duty Drawback, C-TPAT, and NAFTA).
  • Control and analyze Inbound, outbound, sterilization spend and any other process which affects the budget goals.
  • Provide customer service support withing the regions in regards logistics topics.
  • Support and participate on global bids processes.
  •  
  • Participate and generate continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain updated logistics procedures.
  • Supports on any other task based on business requirements.
  •  

     

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  •  

    Licenses or certifications:

  • N/A.
  •  

    Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience, preferred.
  • In depth understanding of international transportation regulations, INCOTERMS, HTS classification, NAFTA, CTPAT, Binding Ruling, etc.
  • High level understanding of international business practices, trade and finance.
  • English: Speak and written.
  • Excel: Intermediate-high
