Job summary:

This position is responsible for managing all Import/Export shipments for the Costa Rica site.  The position requires detailed and current knowledge of import/export logistics, international freight forwarding, use of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Schedule B commodity codes, Costa Rica Free Trade Zone Law and Regulation, Dangerous Goods Regulations, Works with internal customers in managing the inbound and outbound shipment process while maintaining strict International and National compliance. Ensures all related documentation and record keeping is continuously compliant with U.S. and CR Import & Export regulations. Responsible on damaged shipments claims. Support on finance and audit processes and any other duty required by the business on logistics or any other area.

 

Essential duties:

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures maintaining overall compliance posture in this area. Evaluate all new customs requirements and makes sure everyday operations processes are according standard procedures, local and international compliance.
  • Makes sure broker confirms all Inbound/outbound transactions thru customs under a weekly basis.
  • Perform all record keeping processes and maintain records of all entry.
  • Close all entries (DUAS) thru customs system and assure outbound confirmations transactions under a daily basis.
  • Perform Customs formalities including classification of commodities according to Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), enter the information in the authorized customs system, transmit information to Customs, and coordinate with Customs inspections and internal/external audits.
  • Maintains up to date, CR Customs, CR Ministry of Health (Precursors, Haz Mat registration forms), FDA and other regulatory data and assist to obtain all required import permits and export licenses for all processes.
  • Coordinate with the forwarder, trucking company and carrier in/outbound shipments until its on time delivery.
  • Provide an efficient interface with freight forwarders and administer all freight logistics and provide optimal level of customer services and resolve all shipment issues.
  • Evaluate all items for import/export and ensure accuracy in all values and collaborate with customer brokers to provide clearance of all imports/exports and maintain required documents.
  • Maintain up to date the inbound/Outbound report which includes all data related to customs and shipments traceability.
  • Support on Purchase requisitions related to transport, crating and any other business requirements.
  • Participate, propose and develop continuous improvement models for freight cost savings, and/or any other project required.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Supply Chain and Logistics at Free zone.
  • SAP system expertise preferred.
  • Data analytics or data mapping software experience preferred.
