JOB SUMMARY
The EMEA Senior Trade Compliance Specialist will support and strengthen Terumo BCT's global trade compliance program by ensuring import and export activities comply with applicable customs, export control, sanctions, and trade regulations. This role serves as a key resource for trade compliance operations across the EMEA region, partnering with cross-functional teams to identify risk, implement compliant business processes, and support business continuity in an evolving global organization. The successful candidate will possess strong technical trade compliance expertise, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to adapt to rapidly evolving global trade regulations and business requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Trade Data Management:

• Determine and maintain accurate Combined Nomenclature (CN) Codes, country of origin determinations, customs valuation methodologies, and ECCNs
• Act as a subject matter expert for product classification and trade data governance.
• Support master data integrity within ERP system and ensure correct information is shared with the assigned Customs Brokers.
• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of TARBEL and EUR-Lex to ensure compliance across import and export processes.
• Understanding and management of other regulations like F Gas, CBAM, BTIs, etc,. impacting import and export flows.

Broker & Customs Management:

• Must demonstrate working knowledge of EMEA customs clearance processes and related import/export requirements.
• Oversee customs entry audits and coordinate with brokers and external service providers 
• Monitor customs activities and review shipping documentation to ensure compliance with applicable customs regulations.
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers to ensure efficient and compliant cross-border movements.
• Work with Regulatory and Sustainability departments to comply with all EU regulations for import and export flows (e.g. F gas, CBAM, BTIs, etc.)

Export License Management:   

• Assess export transactions to determine licensing requirements under applicable EU export control regulations.
• Prepare, submit, maintain, and administer export licenses, and related authorizations together with the assigned consultant.
• Investigate and remediate licensing discrepancies, exceptions, or compliance concerns and reporting.
• Monitor license utilization, expiration dates, conditions, and reporting obligations to ensure ongoing compliance.

Trade Program Development:

• Support implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of global trade management technology, including SAP S/4HANA GTS.
• Participate in projects involving automation, trade data management, process optimization, and digital compliance solutions.
• Develop, document, and maintain trade compliance procedures, work instructions, and operational controls.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Partner with Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Regulatory, Sustainability and Commercial teams to embed trade compliance controls into operational processes and business decision-making.
• Support duty management, tariff analysis, and trade risk assessments.
• Assist with Restricted Party Screening and Know Your Customer reviews.
• Build strong working relationships with external stakeholders across diverse regions.
• Effectively manage priorities in changing business environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, International Business, Logistics, or related field

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in international trade compliance, customs, logistics, supply chain, or related regulatory functions.
• Strong knowledge of EMEA import/export regulations, customs procedures, sanctions programs, export controls, and Incoterms.
• Experience determining CN codes, country of origin, and export control classifications.
• Experience managing export authorizations, permits, or licensing processes and preferential origin procedure
• Experience working with trade management systems, ERP platforms, and regulatory databases.
• Experience with SAP GTS, SAP S/4HANA, Oracle GTM, or similar global trade management software preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across diverse cultures, countries, and business functions while maintaining professionalism, respect, and cultural awareness.

• Medical device industry experience, including exposure to Russia/CIS markets and exports to Africa.
