JOB SUMMARY

To enhance our capabilities in market access and health economics and support our growth within the therapeutic apheresis and cell technology environments, we are opening an exciting opportunity for Head of Market Access and Health Economics position. Ideally based in Brussels, Belgium the successful candidate will be responsible for Europe and Middle East markets, leading the local implementation of market access and health economic strategies. The role also oversees projects that result in the favorable adoption of value propositions to ensure local market access and patient access to care. It includes the day-to-day management of the EME market access organization and is ultimately responsible for aligning market access and health economics activities with the overall business direction. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall direction, guidance, and supervision of the Director, Global Market Access and Government Affairs, the role of the Head of Market Access and Health Economics, EME, is:

 

  • Coordinate the activities of the EME Market Access team.
  • Ensure the development of deep country-level understanding of payer needs, decision-making approaches, strategies, and country reimbursement stakeholders and influence maps.
  • Organize internal education on reimbursement changes and pathways and their impact on the TBCT business.
  • Identify payer evidence needs and facilitate their incorporation into Phase IV and IIS studies.
  • Manage the value proposition toward payers, HTAs, and other health system stakeholders.
  • Manage customer or payer contracts based on clinical and economic benefit.
  • Lead and own reimbursement processes in individual markets, in collaboration with Country Managers.
  • Help define a policy agenda for the organization, making clear links between policy, business, and patient access outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain personal relationships with select payers, advisors, key opinion leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that global evidence plans meet local country needs, or supplement them with tailored strategies for each market.
  • Lead and own the development of health economic and outcomes analyses (CEA, BIA, burden of disease, etc.) required for access, selecting and coordinating the activities of external vendors as well as in-house development.
  • Ensure evidence synthesis activities (systematic reviews, indirect comparisons, dossier development, etc.) are performed to optimally meet payer needs and support successful product positioning.
  • Develop compliant communication tools to be used in discussions with payers.
  • Ensure insights from market access or health economic activities are embedded within the commercial and medical organizations.
  • In coordination with the Head of European Government Affairs & Public Policy, represent Terumo BCT in relevant working groups at MedTech Europe and in relevant countries.
  • Maintain awareness of regulations governing promotional claims for health economics and ensure all regulatory and compliance internal and external guidelines are followed.
  • Engage public and private payers, economic and purchasing managers, and medical and scientific experts in in-depth medical, scientific, and economic discussions related to products or disease areas, and deliver presentations in a non-promotional scientific context in line with the TBCT strategy. Act as an educational resource to internal and external stakeholders by providing medical, scientific, and economic knowledge, training, and support on TBCT marketed products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 7+ years of relevant industry and/or consulting experience in medtech, biotech, and/or pharma.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent through experience in a relevant discipline is required.
  • Proven experience covering multiple European countries is required.
  • Proficiency in German and/or French is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to work across cultures, languages, and geographies.
  • Proven launch and successful commercialization of therapies.
  • Clear understanding of how to best put patients’ needs first while also achieving commercial and business objectives.
  • Ability to leverage established business relationships with key market access customer segments to ensure broad access to TBCT therapies.
  • You are a connector, building relationships and partnering across the organization to achieve the company’s goals.
