JOB TITLE: Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) Manager – EMEA & Australia

 

JOB SUMMARY
Supports the activities of Terumo BCT to excel in its Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) efforts. Facilitate value creation through high-impact ESG initiatives across the organization. Work in conjunction with the Deputy General Counsel and the Director of ESG to create a comprehensive business plan for ESG, to comply with various ESG regulations and customer requests.
Conduct research, come up with ideas, co-develop policies, build, and then coordinate a range of activities and initiatives which are designed to have a positive impact on environmental, social and governance efforts.
These tasks will relate to the activities of our commercial organization and manufacturing sites in EMEA and Australia.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Support the development and execution of an ESG strategy and multi-year roadmap. Work will be focused on areas such as energy consumption, decarbonization, resource and waste management, community investment, employee engagement and performance measurement, reporting, and verification.
• Support the short- and long-term planning process and objectives for local and global operations.
• Collaborate across the organization to identify ESG KPIs for the organization and help design a systematic approach to tracking this data and establishing concrete KPI goals/milestones.
• Build working relationships across the company with client-facing business units as well as practice areas, including human resources, client development, finance, compliance, procurement, real estate and marketing to support strategy implementation and communication.
• Project manage key initiatives to ensure the business delivers against ESG commitments and compliance requirements, such as CSRD and CS3D.
• Influence business units and colleagues to ensure ESG policies are implemented, and track improvements to business processes.
• Support engagement with our supply chains and key partners on ESG and carry out supply chain due diligence as and when needed.
• Contribute to the design of comprehensive employee engagement efforts including multi-platform global ESG education, training, and communication strategy, both internally and externally.
• Maintain a broad understanding and awareness of emerging ESG trends and best practice.
• Respond to ESG surveys, inquires, and ratings agencies as well as customer requests.
• Partner with internal and external communications teams to create ESG content, including but not limited to annual reports, websites, and newsletters.
• Prepare regular and specialized ESG program reports and presentations, as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS


Education
• BA/BS degree in a technical environmental field or equivalent practical experience
• Prefer master’s degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Logistics, Business, Environmental Science, MBA,
Education, Management, Science, Environmental Studies.
• Experience with EU and/or UK legislation.


Experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting ESG, corporate social responsibility and/or sustainability in a
corporate setting.
• Multi-national operations experience, preferably in a matrix management structure.
• Prefer healthcare or similarly regulated industry experience.


Skills
• Demonstrable knowledge and enthusiasm working in ESG or related fields (e.g., corporate responsibility,
sustainability, climate change) is essential.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of corporate ESG, including knowledge of environmental, social
and governance regulatory issues.
• ESG measurement, reporting and verification in topics including but not limited to greenhouse gas
accounting, Science Based Targets, GRI, TCFD, CSRD and community investment.
• Strong communications skills as evidenced by external presentations, written proposals, reports, and
correspondence.
• Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and effectively champion a position within multiple
competing priorities.
• Skilled in achieving goals through influence and objective-sharing without direct authority.
• Ability to perform quantitative tasks with speed and accuracy, including collection, management,
analysis, and visualization of data.
• Demonstrated expertise in project management toward achievement of annual, long term, and strategic
business objectives.

• Requires excellent knowledge of English (both verbal and written).
• Knowledge of any other European language would be a plus.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Based: Zaventem (Belgium) Office – remote location can be considered.
- Reporting to: Director Environmental Social Governance
- Flexibility to travel: less than 10%.
