A vacancy currently exists for a full-time permanent Senior Program Manager.  Working for our life sciences business based in Larne, the successful candidate will Direct the pharmaceutical solutions business area portfolio of projects ensuring project integration, planning, execution, process compliance and prioritization in alignment with the business strategy. Objectively evaluates and communicates cross-project constraints, requirements, risks and opportunities at the project and leadership levels to drive required business decisions. Provides process, project and program leadership in an existing or changing/emerging environment.  

General Duites

 

 

  • Provides overall management support for identified projects to ensure they are executed effectively and meet the business/functional area goals and priorities
  • Evaluates and manages the inter-relationship between projects, how they impact each other in terms of value, priority, scope, schedule, resources and budget to balance the requirements of the projects and goals of the business/functional area.
  • Ensures that the projects and timing are conducted within the capacity of the organisation.
  • Helps prioritize projects and/or ensure consistency with strategies and business priorities.
  • Tracks organization-wide metrics on the state of project delivery and the value/ROI within individual projects as well as across projects.
  • Understands, creates, and executes project schedules and revises, as appropriate, to meet changing needs and requirements. Resolves and/or escalates project-related issues in a timely fashion.
  • Creates and manages strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning within and across projects.
  • Communicates important milestones, status updates, achievements, and decisions as it relates to the program at the project and leadership level. Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.  Simplifies complex topics for non-technical audiences and prepares quick-pointed
  • summaries for executives and stakeholders.
  • Partners across inter and intra department boundaries including Product Development, R&D, Operations, Marketing, Corporate, Quality, Regulatory, etc. to successfully implement projects.
  • Provides guidance and training on the organization’s project management methodology and approach within the business/functional area.
  • Drives integration of standard program and project management processes throughout the organization.
  • Ensures compliance with project management policies and guidelines for the overall project portfolio..
  • Mentors project managers and project coordinators. 
  • Comply with the environmental management system and minimise environmental impact where possible.
  • Support the development of a positive safety culture through leading by example in safety rule observance and a commitment to continual improvement.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required by your manager from time to time.

Essential Criteria:

 

  • Degree in a business, science, engineering or relevant technical subject.
  • Formal Lean Six Sigma and Project and/or Project Management training.
  • Minimum 8 years Project Management experience gained within a manufacturing environment
  • Good working knowledge and experience of project/program management disciplines, methodology and tools.
  • Excellent customer service skills and deliver proactive responses to stakeholder needs
  • Good conflict-management skills, able to read situations quickly and manage same, find common ground and achieve co-operation seamlessly
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications – including MS Project.
  • Ability to develop project business cases including business justifications (i.e. ROI, payback period etc)
  • Able to develop and maintain the overall project vision and strategy while managing the tactical details/activities
  • Excellent communication skills – across functions and teams and at all levels

Desirable Criteria:

 

  • PMP/PgMP qualification and/or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt/Master Black Belt
  • 10+ years Project Management experience, gained within a regulated biotech environment
  • Proficient in the use of Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Systems (Planview PPM Pro)
