Terumo BCT Ltd - located in Larne - manufactures a range of sterile fluids.  A vacancy currently exists for a Program Manager. This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.



Directs the pharmaceutical solutions business area portfolio of projects ensuring project integration, planning, execution, process compliance and prioritization in alignment with the business strategy. Objectively evaluates and communicates cross-project constraints, requirements, risks and opportunities at the project and leadership levels to drive required business decisions. Provides process, project and program leadership in an existing or changing/emerging environment


Duties will include:

  • Provides overall management support for identified projects to ensure they are executed effectively and meet the business/functional area goals and priorities. 
  • Evaluates and manages the inter-relationship between projects, how they impact each other in terms of value, priority, scope, schedule, resources and budget to balance the requirements of the projects and goals of the business/functional area.
  • Ensures that the projects and timing are conducted within the capacity of the organisation.
  • Helps prioritize projects and/or ensure consistency with strategies and business priorities
  • Tracks organization-wide metrics on the state of project delivery and the value/ROI within individual projects as well as across projects.
  • Understands, creates and executes project schedules and revises, as appropriate, to meet changing needs and requirements. Resolves and/or escalates project-related issues in a timely fashion
  • Creates and manages strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning within and across projects
  • Communicates important milestones, status updates, achievements and decisions as it relates to the program at the project and leadership level.
  • Partners across inter and intra department boundaries including Product Development, R&D, Operations, Marketing, Corporate, Quality, Regulatory, etc. to successfully implement projects
  • Drives integration of standard program and project management processes throughout the organization
  • Mentors project managers and project coordinators


Applicants must possess:

  • Degree in a business, science, engineering or relevant technical subject
  • Minimum 5 years Project Management experience gained within a manufacturing environment
  • Good working knowledge and experience of project/program management disciplines, methodology and tools
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications – including MS Project
  • Excellent customer service skills and deliver proactive responses to stakeholder needs
  • Good conflict-management skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build and maintain constructive and effective relationships
  • Ability to develop project business cases including business justifications (i.e. ROI, payback period etc)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
  • Able to lead and manage project teams
  • Good influencing skills in order to execute the program and individual projects
  • Able to work additional hours as and when required
  • Able to undertake occasional international travel

In addition, the following would be a distinct advantage:

  • PgMP qualification and/or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • 8 years Project Management experience, gained within a Regulated environment
  • Proficient in the use of Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Systems (Planview PPM Pro)
