JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing broad, global strategic vision and long-range plan for Terumo BCT and identifying and evaluating new growth and diversification initiatives. Working closely with the CEO as a member of the Executive Management Committee (EMC), the leader will formulate the company’s strategic plan, evaluate business opportunities through business partnerships or mergers, create markets through strategic marketing, and market access.  Incubates and executes on strategy for developing business areas and new business models. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Strategy

  • Lead an integrated Strategic Planning process, enabling internal and external market opportunities, strategic capabilities, and financial measures to prepare and articulate our global winning aspiration and vision.
  • Thought partner with CEO, business leaders and market shapers to translate growth aspirations into market-based strategies.
  • Position commercial and support teams to fully expand in growth markets, such as cell therapy and services while expanding geographic footprint with underserved patient population.
  • Build repeatable healthcare ecosystem to shape and expand therapeutic application of our portfolio.
  • Provides governance on overall strategic planning functions to ensure clear processes, decision making responsibilities, communication and collaboration among corporate functions, business areas and geographic areas.
  • Communicates strategic plan and associated strategy map, performance management and reporting to TC and to all associates to drive integration and direction.
  • Utilizes competitive intelligence to frame organic and inorganic market expansion investment choices to allow shift to growth business areas.

 

Corporate Development

  • Establishes strategic development through extensive competitive analysis and a rigorous planning process, providing broad, strategic input into potential corporate development initiatives such as mergers, acquisitions, alliances, distribution, new models to increase patient access, co-development, and divestitures to ensure long-term sustainable profitable growth. 
  • Drives innovation, new products and technologies for our existing core business areas and identifies new markets, innovations, new products, and technologies in near adjacent markets that leverage our core competencies and areas of expertise.
  • Fully capture the value of previous investments in innovation and development.
     

Incubation

  • Manage nascent businesses from development/integration into large stand alone and fully integrated business areas.
     

Market Creation

  • Drives market creation through the Market Access function, utilizing healthcare economics, governmental affairs activities, and clinical information to influence and improve reimbursement.
     

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and provides leadership for the functional group’s development, direction, and effectiveness, adhering to organizational policies and processes and supporting overall business and corporate objectives.
  • Participates as a member of the EMC and Executive Team.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

  • Bachelor and Master’s degree or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • MBA preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience, with significant experience related to corporate development, marketing, and strategic planning with on a global scale.
  • Related managerial/executive experience in medical device or related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience translating strategy to action.  Complex portfolio oversight.

 

Or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Additional Physical Requirements

Domestic and International travel:  Controllable up to 40%

 

 

Target Pay Range:  $250,000.00 to $325,000.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
