Terumo BCT is looking for an experienced Technical Writer to join our Global Operational Services team in Lakewood, Colorado. The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing technical service manuals and documents to be used by our internal service technicians to support Terumo BCT products.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Manage all phases of content development projects, including needs assessment, affected deliverables, and timelines, content management & development, review schedules, and release activities.
  • Uses knowledge/document/records management skills to capture and distribute service manual content along with other field service related documentation. Some exposure to web development or information architecture is a plus.
  • Manages content including writing new content, making changes/edits to existing content, gathering the correct pieces from the CMS system, and applying metadata to content.
  • Works with internal customers to produce technical content that addresses technical problems of moderate complexity within areas of responsibility.
  • Partners with subject matter experts to develop technical content in order to achieve specific and immediate business objectives; metrics will be used to determine effectiveness of content.
  • Checks-in/Checks-out topics from the CMS system and routes the topics through the workflow to the correct people.
  • Enter content into the different information types (tasks, concepts, references) and apply appropriate metadata in the CMS.
  • Takes the initiative to report on project status and anticipates and alerts manager and internal customers of potential project difficulties.
  • Assists in the maintenance of art, photo, and electronic and printed document files to meet departmental and regulatory requirements. Forecasts and meets project deadlines and budgets. Takes the initiative to report on project status; anticipates and alerts manager and internal customers of potential project difficulties.

 

Required Experience

  • Technical Writing experience with at least 3-5 years of related experience

 

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work very closely with SMEs and Technical Communications team for extended periods during the development and publishing process.
  • Ability to apply concepts of project management to writing projects.
  • Possess knowledge of content management system, XML programming, and desktop publishing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply workflow processes and search.
  • Understands DITA models.
  • Understands the Information model and be willing to learn Terumo BCT’s information model (Information types, content units, document structures, metadata to add to each of the topics, folder structure, and naming conventions)
