Sr. Manager, Regional Procurement - (Americas/EMEA)



The Sr Manager for Regional Procurement reports to the Director Global Procurement and leads the Procurement function across in the region (Americas/EMEA). This role oversees both Direct and Indirect Procurement and assumes primary responsibility for the results of the Procurement function in the assigned region. Essential activities include developing the organizational procurement strategy and providing leadership, guidance, and support to the plant Procurement team.



1. Strategy Development

  • Development and implementation of regional procurement strategy to ensure optimal use of the available resources and to maximize the contribution of procurement’s activities and solutions to the company’s business objectives.
  • Responsible for negotiations and improving spend under contract with the right SLA’s; ensure delivery on company expectations, cost savings and capacity management.
  • Support development/execution of a robust category strategies that would optimize supply base, reduce dependence on single/sole sourced suppliers, deliver continuity of supply, and provide for annual year over year cost reductions.
  • Deliver annual VIP (cost reductions) and PPV objectives at category and plant levels.


2. Leadership and Team Management

  • Responsible for all aspects of Spend Management at your locations including procurement planning, ordering, supplier follow ups and execution of programs from Global procurement as well as execution of local programs.
  • As Regional Procurement Leader, lead and support a core team of high-quality procurement professionals who have direct accountability for procurement performance at site level.
  • Set and manage short-, mid- and long-term procurement team goals and objectives and establish the appropriate governance model to drive performance and accountability.
  • Responsibility for talent management and the continuous development of the skills and competencies of the procurement staff.
  • Stakeholder Management – engage business colleagues using proactive communication, transparency, and a problem-solving approach.
  • Responsible for recruiting, coaching, and driving top talent within the organization.


3. Supplier Management

  • Develop strong, ethical relationships with World Class suppliers and ensure good business practices and consistently compliant with Terumo Code of Ethics.
  • Effectively manages long-term relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible for supplier relationship management and risk assessment and mitigation plans, maintain and review supplier performance to ensure conformance to supplier management goals (cost, quality, service, delivery).
  • Drive and foster innovation and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Support Global Procurement with rolling out initiatives and ensuring compliance to global standards.


4. Tactical Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing operations and supplier relationships to ensure the highest levels of quality, delivery, and standardization at the lowest levels of risk and cost.
  • Work with functional partners (Finance, SQE, Supply Chain, and others) to ensure plant operation schedules are met OTIF.
  • Jointly, with supplier quality, address supplier quality issues on time.
  • Share best practices between manufacturing plants and cross pollinate for implementing efficient, consistent, reliable, and sustainable procurement processes across sites.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert regarding procurement processes, procedures, and compliance.





Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Accounting or like); MBA desirable.



8-10 years’ of diversified procurement and operational experience in business, technical, and managerial functions. Prior industry experience in a similar role preferred.



  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications (SAP, Power BI, Ariba, etc) and skills to use them effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly self-motivated team player who can work effectively with management, business unit personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence.
  • Proven leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to influence others.
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Experience in planning and executing processes.
  • Solid negotiation skills and Contract management.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking skills and the demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • APICS and/or CPSM certification or willingness to work towards same.


An equivalent competency level acquired through a variation of these qualifications may be considered.

Additional Physical Requirements

There will be an occasional requirement to work outside of normal business hours, consistent with other global positions.

Travel (domestic and international) will be required at < 40%.


Target Pay Range:  $127,100.00 to $158,900.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  20.0%
