JOB SUMMARY

 Provides the strategic development, direction, and overall management of the Indirect Procurement organization.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Responsible on all aspects of indirect procurement for the indirect long-term contract and service level agreements as well as the indirect procurement procure-to-pay (P2P) processes within the organization which includes any commodity or service that the company buys that does not result directly in finished goods.
  • Responsible on all aspects of indirect procurement and sourcing initiatives which include indirect, capital, and services categories.  These categories include but are not limited to travel, print, contract labor, marketing, advertising, professional services, office supplies, office equipment, uniforms, forms, travel, meetings, construction, telecommunications, IT software, and IT hardware, etc.  
  • Accountable and responsible for the integration of the indirect procurement strategy with the overall companies’ business goals and objectives, as well as financial responsibilities and achieving results.
  • Responsible for mentoring, challenging, educating, and motivating the indirect procurement team as well as the development of indirect procurement policies and processes.
  • Prepare RFQ/RFP, analyze proposals, and make supplier selection based on total value proposition. Develop high-level negotiation strategies and partner with Global Contracts to execute contracts.
  • Drive cost savings partnerships with all internal stakeholders (Operations, R&D, HR, Finance, Legal, Marketing, IT, Workplace Resources, Sterilization, and other Terumo BCT subsidiaries and departments) to define and support indirect spend requirements in order to meet the needs of the company in terms of total cost, quality, service and delivery.
  • Ensure supply to internal stakeholders with a focus on balancing working capital costs with service levels.
  • Ensure compliance of the purchasing department with legal requirements (JSOX), to the formal procurement policies and preferred supplier agreements.
  • Responsibility to effectively achieve cost goals as well as fostering strong supplier management relationships and monitoring performance.
  • Responsible for keeping current on the supply market, trends and pricing and maintaining awareness of best practices.
     
     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of strategic sourcing practices and principles, including indirect sourcing plan development and spend analysis.
  • Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
     
     Skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to gain stakeholder buy in while fostering cooperative stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement related to indirect sourcing programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement and sourcing techniques and strategies, as well as continuous improvement initiatives (TQM, SPS, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Value Engineering/Value Analysis, etc.)
  • Expanded knowledge of implementing best practices in the areas of purchasing and materials management. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting and finance in order to analyze costs and benefits of a strategy, project or initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in an ERP information systems environment for the requisition, purchasing and payables cycles. 
  • Proven leadership and managerial abilities demonstrated by developing, coaching, and training others in an organizational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish project schedules, manage projects, priority setting, set objectives, negotiates deadlines and meeting budget.
  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Target Pay Range:  $128,200.00 to $160,200.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  20.0%
