In doing so, we must ensure our medical devices are protected from all threats. We are hiring for a cybersecurity expert to join our software team as a Software Security Architect. This person will define Terumo BCT’s global cybersecurity strategy for web applications and embedded devices.

In this rapidly-changing field, we are looking for a leader who will stay abreast of cybersecurity knowledge and standards, provide guidance on how to evolve our existing architecture, and recommend emerging technologies that provide solutions. Other aspects of the position include:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for the software group related to cybersecurity
  • Participate in the evaluation of existing products for compliance with cybersecurity guidance and standards
  • Act as a resource and mentor for less experienced team members within the software organization, particularly with regards to cybersecurity risk analysis, requirements, architectural design, and testing
  • Stay up to date on cybersecurity software architecture, development, testing, and standards related to the medical device industry
  • Participate in regulatory activities including audits as a subject matter expert in software security
  • Represent the software organization on steering committee related to product security

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience
  • Experience applying CVSS
  • Familiar with NIST Cybersecurity Framework
  • Familiar with penetration testing tools
  • Experience analyzing information security, network security, and proposing appropriate architectures and protocols

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working cross-functionally, particularly with commercial, legal and regulatory functions
  • Ability to communicate complex, technical content to non-technical audiences (both verbally and in writing)
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate

Preferred, but not required:

  • Familiarity with FDA guidance on cybersecurity
  • Previous participation in an ISAO (Information Sharing & Analysis Organization), such as H-ISAC
  • Relevant degrees or professional certifications in the cybersecurity field
