Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Software Quality Assurance team within the Innovation & Development department. We are building our SDET capabilities and are looking for true software testers who can write code!


The Opportunity – Test software to ensure its safety, which ultimately helps save patients’ lives

Software is at the heart of everything we do. It enables our medical devices to function, so that we can safely and effectively provide therapies and treatments to patients in need. This direct, tangible impact on patients is what our software associates’ value most about working here.


This role will work on projects related to cell and stem cell therapy, which aim to introduce new, healthy cells into a patient’s body to replace the diseased ones. A challenge for this type of therapy is having enough cells for transplantation – which is where our Quantum® Cell Expansion System comes in.

  • Create automated tests for embedded medical device software for our cell therapy technologies business area, specifically Quantum® Cell Expansion System and its next-gen device
  • Write test cases and create test fixtures and infrastructures using Python and PyTest
  • Understand and implement software automation strategies and best practices
  • Work alongside developers, testers and product owners on an experienced Agile team
  • Develop skills and learn from our Principal SDET mentors


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
  • Advanced experience in Python and PyTest (or similar technology)
  • Team player, collaborative and respectful of different ideas and perspectives
  • Action-oriented, takes initiative and does what’s needed
  • Embedded software automated testing experience a plus
  • Medical device or regulated industry experience preferred


**Option for remote or onsite work. Local Colorado candidates will have the option for a hybrid working arrangement (combination of onsite and/remote). Out-of-state candidates will also be considered for a 100% remote position.

Target Pay Range: $82,000 to $110,000 -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  7.0%
